Ryan Rodney Reynolds is a Canadian actor and producer born in 1976. He is the youngest of four children and grew up with his father, a food vendor, and his mother, who also worked in sales. His career began at age 13, when he decided to participate in a Canadian series called Hillside, distributed by Nickelodeon and known in the United States under the name of Fifteen. He came to act in other series at the same time, in general playing small roles, and at the time he also worked in a supermarket.

In 2021, in mental health month Ryan revealed his “problem”, and in 2022 he decided to produce a film called The Adam Project. According to the actor, he lives with two parts of his personality. Before facing a public situation, he begins to feel nauseous and very afraid. A fight that never goes away

The struggle he faces with himself ends up greatly affecting his career. In movies and series we can see that Ryan is a very successful actor. In addition, he participates in many projects and owns a few companies, but none of this came for free. One of his great difficulties is precisely his tendency to work too hard.

“I tend to bite off more than I should chew,” says the actor. “If I say I do it, then I want to show results, even if it costs my well-being”. Ryan overthinks each situation and spends sleepless nights. Living like this, fighting with yourself, must be really tiring.

“When we talk about our problems, we open the door for others to do the same.” This is the actor’s philosophy. Just as mental health can be difficult to deal with, talking about it makes the struggle easier. Ryan grew up dealing with anxiety, but what got him talking about his problem was his family. The actor lives with his wife, Blake Lively, and their three daughters, James, Inez and Betty, and realized that his responsibility as a father was also to set a good example.

In an interview, Ryan said, “Part of my job as a parent is to model behaviors and show what it’s like to be sad and what it’s like to be angry or anxious; that is, to show that there is room in our lives for all of this”. With this, he wanted to show that people dealing with mental disorders are not alone, and that it’s okay to talk about these issues. For him, it is essential that more is said about mental health.

“I have anxiety, I’ve always had anxiety,” said the actor when he felt motivated enough to change.

Despite everything, there are many good things in your life

For a long time Ryan hid his anxiety behind hard work and many achievements, until he discovered that it really wasn’t helping him; in reality, he was just worsening his condition. The actor had to reassess his life and the relationship he had with his family to realize that he needed to change to be happy.

“Often, we do everything just for the sake of doing it. Today, my goal is to be present. I’m trying to live like this. And it’s been incredible.” The actor decided to take some time off to dedicate himself to being a father. He also started to meditate and take care of himself, above all to keep himself calmer, and he doesn’t intend to remain silent or hide this part of his life.
