Requirements to get married civilly in Baja California (Updated!)

Before we explained what you need to get married civilly in Mexico, but in this article we will focus on the Baja California requirements and in its five municipalities: Ensenada, Mexicali, Tecate, Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito.

Unlike other states, in Baja California each municipality requires different documents to get married civilly and prices also change.

Tijuana is one of the municipalities with the most options for civil marriage and, therefore, there are also different prices, updated for 2021:

In the municipality of Playas de Rosarito, these are the prices for a civil wedding, according to official data updated to 2021:

Requirements to get married civilly in Baja California

Take note, this is the list of documents you need for your civil wedding in Baja California, Ensenada, Mexicali, Rosarito, Tecate or Tijuana:

Submit a recent original birth certificate dated 3 years ago that the spouses issued it. Submit FORM RC-04 typewritten or printed legibly, signed and without erasures, indicating under which regime they wish to carry out their marriage (Conjugal Partnership FORM RC-06) and/or (Separation of assets FORM RC-07) filling out the corresponding agreement. Birth certificates of the spouses (original and two copies) Valid Official Mexican Identification with photograph of the spouses (IFE, INE, Military Card, valid Mexican Passport or driver’s license supported by proof of the processing of the voting credential and the 4 witnesses, if they are foreigners, present identification translated into Spanish by an authorized expert in Baja California Medical Certificate duly signed and sealed by the doctor FORM RC-08, which are valid only for 15 days from the date of issue (Original) Analysis Prenuptial clinics (VDRL-HIV) essential requirements for all couples (Art 95 of the Civil Code) (Original) 4 Witnesses, Official Identification (Original and Copy), who must be present on the day and time designated for the celebration of the marriage Proof of attendance at the pre-marital talks Attend the pre-marital talk (by appointment)

It is necessary to appear at the Civil Registry and request an appointment 8 to 15 days before marriage.

If you are divorced, or widowed, you must present the certificate that states this (Divorce or Death Certificate).

Couples with children in common do not need to present clinical tests or a medical certificate, they only need to present a birth certificate of one child.

Civil marriage of two single foreigners:

Birth certificate apostilled and translated into Spanish by an expert authorized by the superior court of justice of Baja California (Original and Copy) Valid Official Identification translated into Spanish by an authorized expert (If it is a “book” passport, the translation is not necessary) (Original and Copy )
