Prayer psalm 109

1. O God of my praise, do not be silent,
two. For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceiver are open against me. They have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3. They surrounded me with hateful words, and fought against me without cause.
4. In reward for my love are my adversaries; but I pray.
5. And they gave me harm for good, and hatred for my love.
6. Set a wicked man over him, and let Satan be at his right hand.
7. When you are judged, you will be convicted; and his prayer becomes his sin.
8. Let his days be few, and another take his office.
9. Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow.
10. Let your children be vagabonds and beggars, and seek bread outside their desolate places.
11. Let the creditor hand over everything he has, and let strangers take away their work.
12. Let there be no one who pities him, nor anyone who favors his orphans.
13. Let his posterity disappear, his name be erased in the next generation.
14. Let the iniquity of your fathers be remembered by the Lord, and the sin of your mother may not be blotted out.
15. Rather, always stand before the Lord, so that he may destroy their memory from the earth.
16. Because he did not remember to show mercy; but she persecuted the afflicted man and the needy, that she might even kill the brokenhearted.
17. Since he loved the curse, let it come upon him, and just as he did not desire the blessing, let it turn away from him.
18. Just as he clothed himself with a curse, so does his clothing penetrate into his bowels like water and into his bones like oil.
19. Be for him like the garment that covers him, and like the belt that always girds him.
20. May this be the reward of my adversaries from the Lord, and of those who speak evil against my soul.
21. But you, O GOD the Lord, deal with me for your name’s sake, because your mercy is good, deliver me,
22. For I am afflicted and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
23. I leave like a declining shadow; I am shaken like a grasshopper.
24. My knees are weakened from fasting, and my flesh becomes thin.
25. And yet I am a reproach to them; when they look at me, they move their heads.
26. Help me, O Lord my God, save me according to your mercy.
27. That they may know that this is your hand, and that you, Lord, have done it.
28. Curse them, but bless you; when they rise up, let them be confused; and let your servant be glad.
29. Let my adversaries be clothed with shame, and cover themselves with their own confusion as with a cloak.
30. I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; I will praise him among the crowd.
31. For he will stand at the right hand of the poor, to deliver him from those who condemn his soul.
