Prayer to the mighty hand of God Our Lord

I was researching some images of Santos and found the representation of the Powerful Hand (the Powerful Hand).

I was curious to understand that iconography, which seemed very strange to me. In the center of the painting is the sore hand of the crucified Christ. On the side, there are some symbols of the passion: the spear with the sponge soaked in gall, the lash of the flagellation, the hammer, the carnations, the cross, the crown of thorns.

In the upper part of the painting, which is always alluding to heaven, the holy family is painted. The infant Jesus carrying the world, flanked by the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph, next to whom are Saint Anne and Saint Joachim, the parents of the Virgin Mary.

Prayers to the mighty hand of the lord

I have found some variations in which Jesus is in the center and God the Father above, or we have the representation of the chalice with seven lambs symbolizing the blood of Christ in the Mass and the seven sacraments of the Church. Among other different representations.

“Is not the cup of blessing that we bless communion with the blood of Christ, and the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?”

1 Corinthians 10,16

Here, we have the Holy Spirit above and from the wound of Christ, in the center, springs the source of the Seven Sacraments of the Church.

“Chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood: Grace and peace be multiplied to you” 1 Saint Peter 1,2

From what I understood, reading some sites in Spanish, this representation is not well accepted by the Church in Mexico because of the religious syncretism of that town. Despite this, this strange symbol refers us to the center of faith, which is the mystery of Christ’s sacrifice in the Mass, in his body and blood.

But I found two beautiful prayers about the Mighty Hand and many receive thanks through it:

“And through him to reconcile to himself all things, both those on earth and those in heaven, making peace through the blood shed on the cross.”

Powerful divine hand, deliver me from all my sufferings, from all my needs, all the anxieties and my tribulations in this life.

My Lord Jesus Christ, for the Love of God the Father and the Blessed Virgin, I ask you to bring down with all your forgiveness, your powerful Divine Hand on all my enemies, visible and invisible, on all the envious people who wish me harm.
