Practical guide to dream interpretation

There are those who believe that through dreams we contact our unconscious, our most intimate desires and anxieties. To decipher this universe, we selected incredible excerpts from the book Dictionary of Dreams (Pallas Publisher, R$ 40*).

Abandonment: dreaming of being abandoned = something good to come; change of situation; lose one thing for another new one to arise.

Abyss: difficult situation with no way out. See abyss = emergence of new enemies. Falling into the abyss = announcement of illness or death of relatives.

Hug: its meaning varies according to the person you hug in the dream. An unknown = unexpected help. A friend = death in the family. Someone of doubtful character = treason.

Vulture (vulture-like bird): means long illness. Many of them = illness in the family. flight from
several vultures = temporal.

Camping: being in a camp = represents a confrontation with an awkward situation. Running away from a camp = wanting to avoid commitments.

Accident: something unexpected and harmful. Friend or relative having an accident = disloyalty.

Adultery: see the other cheating on you = unforeseen events in life.

Drowning: to be a victim of drowning = great danger. Seeing someone drown = complications with money.

Angel: good luck.

Rainbow: symbolizes improvement in life. If it is very clear = loving reconciliation.

Plane: when it is motionless (still on the ground) = good business. Taking flight = means success in love.

Flag: when hoisted = glad tidings. Several together = friend or relative may soon recover from illness.

Child: birth = engagement, or marriage.

Sidewalk: narrow = poorly paid job. Wide = good result in a project.

Elevator: enter num = promising initiatives. Leaving = quarrels in sight. Go up = domestic unrest. Descending = disillusionment.

Job: to be out of work = financial improvement. Starting a new job = difficulties.

Hen: if you dream of a bird laying an egg = luck in the game. Hatching an egg = pregnancy or the upcoming birth of a child in the family.

Rooster: the song of the bird = arrival of an absent person. Fighting roosters = quarrels over money. Rooster chasing chicken = disagreements between husband and wife.

Cat: black cat = good luck. yellow = beware of new loves. Gray = infidelity. White =
engagement or marriage.

Giant: success at work and social prestige. Seeing yourself as a giant = social power and success in undertakings.

Hospital: healing of a sick person.

Church: join a church = success in business. Praying inside a church = luck.

Fire: change. to see one’s own house burnt down = birth of a child. Fire in the house of a relative or known person = disagreements in the family.

Moon: bright = engagement or marriage. Full = earning money. Crescent = birth of a child. Waning = breakup of friendship, courtship or engagement. Very close = news of an absent person.

Mother: dreaming that you hug your mother = increase in personal income; who kisses her = increase of the family; who receives his visit = of change; that caresses her = happiness in business; who quarrels with her = unhappiness; who sees her cry = illness; that makes peace with her = healing of an illness.

Suitcase: full = prosperity. Empty = job loss. Stuffing your suitcase = luck in the lottery. Carrying the suitcase = a trip to come.

Wall: it may mean the appearance of an obstacle that was not foreseen. Knock it down = success.

Ship: moored at the wharf = delay in business. At the shipyard (under construction) = good business. Sailing on a river = new loves. At sea = wish fulfillment.

Boyfriend: dreaming that you have a new boyfriend = breakup of the current relationship. Seeing your boyfriend’s back = possibility of moving away. Saying goodbye to your partner = the arrival of a new love.

Egg: means fertility and luck. Fresh eggs = good news. Broken = quarrels. Hard = unpleasant news.

Dad: represents protection. Deceased = difficulties at home. old man = long life. Seeing yourself receiving your visit = change. To dream that you are arguing with him = means difficult business.

Oil: wealth. oil can = marriage.

What if I can’t remember my own dreams?

Knowing what goes through your mind as soon as your head hits the pillow is a great exercise. Leave a notebook and pen by the bed. As soon as you wake up, write everything down, even if nothing makes sense or it’s just pictures. Believe: practicing daily, you will be able to remember your dreams!
