Pizzeria Helps People Find Their Pets by Placing Ads on Pizza Boxes

John Sanfratello is the owner of Angelo’s Pizza, a Matawan, New Jersey-based restaurant that has earned the community’s love and respect for its contribution to the fight to find missing animals. The idea came when John saw a picture of a stray cat and remembered when the same thing happened to him. Although he was able to retrieve his animal, the merchant remembered all the anguish he felt, and so he decided to do something about it.

The idea is simple, effective and works like great advertising: placing ‘Wanted’ ads with pictures of animals on the boxes of delivered pizzas. In this way, more people find out about disappearances and can contribute to the animals being found more quickly.

The initiative by Angelo’s Pizza has been around for a short time, but it has already brought good results. The idea went viral on social media and became a news topic, which motivated other establishments to do the same.

After spreading the announcement of the first missing cat, Angelo’s Pizza published on its Facebook page an invitation for other people in the community who also lost their pets to take advertisements with the necessary information. The information, as we said, is placed on the pizza boxes that will be delivered and the pizzeria does not charge for it.

Just to compare, in the UK, 47% of lost animals are able to return to their families, a situation that is largely influenced by the use of tracking chips and a very efficient database. In Brazil, data from the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that there are about 30 million animals in the street.
