To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone color experts at the Pantone Color Institute™ scour the world for new color influences. This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, styles of entertainment and socio-economic conditions. Influences can also come from new technologies, materials, textures and effects that affect color, relevant social media platforms, and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention. ABOUT THE COLOR OF 2022
“The Pantone Color of the Year reflects what is happening in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for,” added Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “The complexity of this new shade of blue infused with red violet highlights the expansive possibilities that lie before us.”
