One of the best feelings is knowing that someone likes you.

Knowing that someone likes us is one of the best feelings we can feel. It is comforting and energizing. Knowing that someone wants to see you and talk to you, that they are interested in how you are doing, that they have a sincere interest based on true appreciation. This is wonderful.

Sometimes, when it seems like nothing can get any worse, that person arrives and rescues us with a call, a caress, or a look.Sometimes a quick message or a warm greeting that reminds us that we are loved is enough to lift our spirits.

Knowing that we are present in the mind of someone who cares about us and that we are able to arouse emotions and feelings in someone is our best lifesaver, a buoy that undoubtedly makes our best smile.

The love of others is a lifesaver

There is an excerpt from a book by Paul Auster, “The Palace of the Moon”, which perfectly defines what we feel when the love of others rescues us from the pit we have fallen into and from which we cannot get out:

“I IGNORED HIM AT THAT MOMENT, IT’S EVIDENT, BUT KNOWING WHAT I KNOW NOW, IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE THOSE DAYS WITHOUT FEELING A SHAVE OF NOSTALGIA FOR MY FRIENDS. IN A WAY, THIS ALTERS THE REALITY OF WHAT I EXPERIENCED.

I HAD JUMPED OFF THE EDGE OF A CLIFF AND JUST AS I WAS ALMOST TOUCHING THE BOTTOM, AN EXTRAORDINARY FACT HAPPENED: I KNEW THAT THERE WERE PEOPLE WHO LIKE ME. THE FACT THAT SOMEONE LIKES US IN THAT WAY CHANGES EVERYTHING.

IT DOES NOT DIMINISH THE TERROR OF THE FALL, BUT IT GIVES A NEW PERSPECTIVE OF WHAT THAT TERROR MEANS. I HAD JUMPED OFF THE EDGE AND THEN, AT THE LAST INSTANT, SOMETHING CATCH ME IN THE AIR. THAT SOMETHING IS WHAT I DEFINE AS LOVE.

IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT CAN STOP A MAN’S FALL, THE ONLY THING POWERFUL ENOUGH TO VOID THE LAW OF GRAVITY.”

As we see in this wonderful definition, the love of those around us is our lifesaverthe buoy that keeps us safe even when we are drowning and nothing seems to have a solution.

Sincere love knows no selfishness and interests

The sincere interest of those who like us knows no selfishness. This is something that is felt in the small details, that bewitches us and that keeps us connected with our emotional world and with relationships.

A world in which we sometimes live so far apart that we forget that, as Maslow said, we cannot fulfill certain needs or expectations if we do not have love, affiliation and bonding with those around us as part of the foundation.

Whatever the premises that keep us standing, we are lame when we don’t feel that someone cares about us. Therefore, when we do not have the presence of someone who contributes to feeling loved, we feel sad and abandoned.

Our references, the people for whom we are important

We need to relate and feed our roots to keep growing, so that our branches sprout beautiful leaves that symbolize love, health and prosperity. For our self-esteem and to maintain a good mood, it is essential to have references, pillars on which we can lean on in a bad moment, or put on our gala clothes to dance without an umbrella under the rain of joy.

Because the building an enriching relationship depends, to a large extent, on the wings of others wanting to fly alongside us.and want to take care of the complicity of a pure and sincere love that knows no selfishness.
