In the case of men, the alert is for the prostate. During the consultation, it is indicated that the consultant, together with the oracle player, stand up facing the door and place their hands on their belly and point towards the exit.

But after all, what is the story of Odu 10 and who is its ruling orixá? These and other answers you will find out now! Continue reading the article.

Odu Ofun, also known as Ofun Meji, is the tenth ODU in the game of whelks and the 16th in order of arrival in the Ifá system, where he is known by the same name. In Ifá, it is known, by the fon (jêje), as “FU MEJÍ” or “OFÚ MEJI”. The Nagos also call it “LÀGIN MEJI”. “LÀGUN” meaning mystery. “OLOGBÔ” (mysterious and evil for having committed an incest “lo”), “OGI OFÚ”, for euphony.

On the other hand, people under the influence of this orixá have the mystery in their lives, they are sincere, honest, intelligent and know how to make good friends and keep them for long years. They are very quiet and aged people inside, although they may seem young sometimes, this is due to the fact that Odu is the oldest orixá.

Odu 10 Ofun represents the great Mother and the maternal principle. She is the mother of all Odus and also of all creation. In this way, she does not only have dominion over the air, since after having created it, she freed Ejiogbe and started to dominate it too.

After Ejiogbe, Ofun Meji created the other Odus, contributing to the creation of the world, where each Odu created a part and started to symbolize it, always under the orders and laws established by Ofun. This Odu governs men and women indiscriminately, and birds and sorcery are derived from it.

His attributions are so many that it is impossible to enumerate them, just as it is impossible to enumerate everything that is under his domain. To give you an idea, it can be said that in his custody are all things that move and everything that is white, such as, for example, albinos, white horses and people who are too old, since he is considered the oldest in order of arrival.

Ofun complains about his sacrifices, all in number of sixteen. He rules along with Osa and Irosun, the female rulers. This Odu is so dangerous that most diviners omit his name in front of profane people, preferring to say “Hekpa Baba” (Baba means daddy and Hekpa is an exclamation that expresses fear).

Whenever a diviner finds this sign, he usually says: Ló or Eró, words that convey, at the same time, the idea of prohibition, sin and mystery. Then it is customary to blow three times over the palms of the hands, as if they contained a powder. This procedure is intended to remove the negativity that accompanies Ofun.

The regent orixá of Odu 10 Ofun is Oxalufan, with influence from Xangô and Oxum. Known as Orisha Baba, deity of fertility, the creator father of man and protector par excellence, Oxalufan is the king of the white cloth, his manifestation is represented through light, peace, faith and reason. He is an old and wise orixá, has a good character and was made by the Creator before all orixás.

Oxalufan is celebrated every sixteen days. Like most orishas, he hates violence, disputes and fights. He doesn’t eat salt or palm oil, besides hating strong colors like red and black. To it belong the metals and white substances. He is associated with air, and also with water.

Odu number 10 corresponds to the cardinal point Southeast, to Tarot card nº 21 (the “WORLD”) and its numerical value is 11. In general, this orixá governs diseases in the head. However, her importance is associated with the fact that she is the mother of Ogbé (Ejionilê) and he is the father of Ogbé (Ejionile), thus having both sexes and being hermaphrodite. Ogbé (Ejionilê), on the other hand, for being the eldest son, reigns over the other Odus.

Ofun Meji is composed of the water element. Due to his association with an elderly orisha, he inherits the characteristics of patience and kindness, being able to always offer help to those in need. Also, he is always ready to support his children no matter what.

It also represents the effort it evokes, with no obstacles to be overcome or circumvented. On the other hand, Ofun is not a beast. He usually adopts quite elaborate defense mechanisms in order to protect himself and prevent people who wish to abuse his goodwill from approaching.

Odu 10 is a female Odu, represented by an egg on which, on the right, vertically, twelve points are engraved in superimposed pairs and, on the left, four superimposed horizontal lines. The egg represents Ofun Meji itself, and envelops all other Odus. Ofun Meji is the mother of Ogbé Meji (Ejionilê), Oyèkú Meji (Ologbon), Iworí Meji and Odi Meji, life and death, the hidden and the revealed.

Odu Ofun is represented by the colors: white, violet and sky blue. White is the color which represents it and, among the three, the main one. Although the other two are seen as ”secondary colors” they are also accepted and very important.

Ofun is mostly known for drawing attention to the health side. She is an Odu that governs diseases, so care needs to be taken. Its vulnerable points are the stomach and blood pressure. Therefore, it is good to keep an eye on these aspects and avoid possible complications. Whenever possible, seek medical help or opt for a checkup.

Children who have the influence of Ofun are prohibited from drinking wine and any alcoholic drink, sifting flour, wearing red or dark clothes, blowing fire, whether it be to stoke it or put it out. Also, they cannot eat pork, or any food offered to Dan and Nana. The same children cannot walk around dirty or in environments with excessive dirt. In addition, they must always wear light or white clothes.

One day a meeting was scheduled with all the orixás, each one tried to make specific offerings so that everything went very smoothly. Orixalá, in turn, soon tried to prepare his own.

When they finished making the offering, they gave the orixálá white cloth to make a garment, and parrot feathers from the coast, to place on his head. So, when everything was done, the day of the big meeting arrived in which all the orixás presented themselves.

Orixalá appeared in such a wonderful way in his new clothes, as if he were illuminated by the rays of the sun. All were bowing before such brightness of the nascent dawn, they swore allegiance and gave him everything they had, with the oath to adore him forever.
