Have you ever heard of Coral Castle in the United States? It is a complex of limestone sculptures that weigh up to 30 tons. The structure was produced by architect Edward Leedskalnin, who moved from Latvia to the United States.

It is worth noting that Edward built his castle alone. According to statements from neighbors, he did not use tractors or cranes. He just cut and transported stones to the construction site.

However, it is a mystery that a man weighing just over five feet and 100 pounds could carry such large stones. He worked exclusively at night, and never had visitors. When, in the vicinity of his castle, construction began on a village, Edward simply moved the work. At the same time, he only used one truck, without asking for help to load or unload the heaviest sculptures.

The architect did everything he could to make sure that no one was watching him work. He claimed that he had discovered the secret of the construction of the Egyptian Pyramids, and did not share his secrets with anyone. The method used to build the castle remains a mystery, as Leedskalnin died in 1951.

Since ancient times, humans have tried unusual strategies to control nature: they invent rituals, sacrifices and prayers. American Charles Hetfield, a 27-year-old sewing machine salesman, was yet another obsessed with the idea. Admittedly, unlike the shamans, Hetfield decided to apply the scientific focus to his goal, and he even had some success.

He invented a mixture of 23 chemical elements that supposedly caused rain. The man quickly gained popularity among American farmers, who had been suffering losses after severe droughts.

In 1904, he and his companion built a tower to spread the chemical mixture. Apparently it rained, because the inventor won 1,000 dollars. After that, he struck a deal with the city of San Diego, California, promising to generate precipitation, and set a price of $1000 for an inch of rain.

Finally, the inventor’s commitment was fulfilled: it started to rain. But the rain was so heavy that it destroyed several dams, causing more damage to the city than the drought itself.

The city refused to pay the rain seller and asked that the city be compensated in an amount estimated at 3 million dollars – values ​​at the time. Indignant, he appealed to justice, which understood that the rain was caused by natural forces, therefore, neither the city hall nor he should pay the damages.

It is unknown if the precipitation salesman was actually an excellent meteorologist, or if he actually learned to control the weather. Hetfield kept the chemical composition a secret, not even telling his close friends. He died in 1958, without anyone having solved the mystery.

Many of us have secrets that we don’t want to share with even our most faithful friend. However, a woman known as Lori Ruff from Seattle, USA, could set a record for the amount of personal secrets.

Lori married Blake Ruff and gained her last name, Ruff. She preferred to lead a discreet life. Therefore, she asked that her wedding be very discreet, without any guests, not even relatives. Shortly after the ceremony, she insisted on distancing herself from her husband’s family.

Blake’s family weren’t happy with this behavior, but they couldn’t change anything in the couple’s personal life. According to Blake, his wife did not talk about the past and sometimes behaved strangely. For a long time, the couple could not have children. After undergoing fertility treatment, Lori became pregnant and had a baby girl. The woman could not avoid postpartum depression. Tired of his wife’s erratic behavior, Blake filed for divorce.

Desperate to return to her husband to no avail, Lori committed suicide. She was 42 years old.

After her death, Blake’s family decided to find out what her past was and why the deceased concealed her story so carefully.

The result of the investigation surprised everyone: documents were found that showed that she had changed her name. Her name was Becky Sue Turner. The same newspapers, safely kept, reported that Becky had died in a fire when she was 2 years old.

Six years after the mysterious Lori’s death, her alleged parents were found. They said that her name was actually Kimberly McLean. At 17, she ran away from home when her relationship with her stepfather was strained. This woman’s life, after running away from home and before marriage, is definitely full of mysteries.

On May 26, 1828, on a street in Nuremberg, Germany, an eccentric teenager was found. He couldn’t explain who he was and answered every question with “I don’t know”. He just kept repeating that he wanted to be a cavalryman, just like his father.

When the young man was taken to the police, he managed to write his name: Kaspar Hauser. However, he didn’t give any further information. During Kaspar’s registration, they found 2 letters regarding the boy.

The first was written by an alleged tutor of his. It stated that Kaspar had been abandoned by an unknown woman in 1812 and had since been held in an underground prison, never in his life having been released from captivity. The unidentified author indicated that the boy dreamed of being a cavalry soldier and suggested to the military that they kill him, in case of professional unfitness.

The second letter was supposedly written by his mother, before being separated from her son. The woman commented that the baby’s father was dead, and she herself was a poor girl and could not raise a child. She asked her future tutor to educate him and, when he reached the age of 17, send him to the 6th Infantry Battalion, where his father had served.

Indeed, the results of the boy’s long incarceration were noticeable: he ate nothing but black bread and water, called all animals “horses” (probably the horse was his only toy) and called any “boy” person.

But the teenager developed quickly, learning new languages ​​and acquiring new skills. He had several tutors, each of whom took great responsibility for his upbringing.

In 1833, the unfortunate Kaspar was wounded in the chest by an unknown man. On his body was a letter, which could be read only with the help of a mirror. In the letter, the killer stated that he lived on the Bavarian border and his name was MLO. However, this information did not help to find the killer.

Until now, Kaspar remains a mysterious personality. He left no more traces or signs that could help in the search for his past. Some say he was the heir to the throne of Baden, a small kingdom in what is now southwestern Germany. However, this version was ruled out by a DNA test.

Who was the child’s true guardian and why was he murdered? There are still no answers. Another piece of information complements the mystery: the 3 letters were written by Kaspar himself, according to the opinion of some historians.

This woman was seen repeatedly in photos taken on the day of the assassination of then US President John Kennedy. The images show that the mysterious woman also took pictures of the incident with her own camera. But when the police asked all citizens for records of the tragic day, she didn’t show up.

According to detectives, the images taken by her could have contributed to the investigation. Therefore, she became an outlaw. Journalists nicknamed the stranger Lady Babushka (grandmother, in Russian) because of a cloth she wore tied around her head, just like the ladies wear in Russia.

After 7 years, a former strip club dancer, Beverly Oliver, went to the police to declare that she was Lady Babushka. The girl said that, at the time of the murder, she was 17 years old and was a friend of Jack Ruby, who shot Lee Harvey Oswald, the prime suspect in the assassination of the president.

However, investigators of the tragedy have very rational doubts about the veracity of Beverly Oliver’s words. First, Lady Babushka looked to be over 17. Second, she never turned over images to investigators.
