Model Barbie Ferreira shows stretch marks on her abdomen and makes an outburst –

More than 373,000 followers of the American plus-size model barbie ferreira on Instagram, people are already used to the messages of love for the body that she usually posts on her social networks, especially after being, at the beginning of the year, the poster girl for the beachwear brand aerial (from American Eagle), known for being against image treatment in its campaigns.

This week, Barbie shared something beyond her curves: the stretch marks on her abdomen.

The vast majority of comments supported the young woman for her courage and for encouraging other women to accept her brands of stretch marks. But in real life, Barbie said, hours later, that she goes through very embarrassing situations:“I was standing naked at work in front of strangers (a very vulnerable position) and was asked what was wrong with my hips because of my stretch marks. Who questioned me was a woman. I would be lying if she said that micro-aggressions like this don’t happen to me on an almost daily basis in the fashion industry.”

In the post-outburst, she also says that it is common for people to want to hide their body with girdles or modify it using image editing programs so that their appearance looks “better”. She continues: “Few brands truly represent real women rather than an idealization of a thin woman (as most try to do with me). And the abuse doesn’t just happen to me: skinny runway models are also told to stop eating because they look fat.”
