Maurício de Souza takes Turma da Mônica to school in MG after the meme goes viral

A modest version of Monica’s Gang ended up becoming one of the biggest internet memes this week. You must have seen the image of the “post apocalypse” characters in your feed, because it reached the Mauricio de Souza in person.

And the cartoonist decided to find out where the photo in question came from. It was taken at the Instituto Educacional A Chave do Saber, in São João del Rei, in the interior of Minas Gerais. Upon learning of this, Maurício sent the original Turma da Mônica there last Friday (8), which took the school staff by surprise.

In an interview with G1, the director of the institution, jonathan alves, said he was surprised by the repercussions and also by the visit of the original characters. He was contacted by Maurício himself, but he did not expect the surprise.

This isn’t the first time the Souza family has reacted wonderfully to a Monica’s Gang meme. Two years ago, the real Mônica (who is Maurício’s daughter) made a flesh-and-blood version of “ata”, a meme that has become a great classic on the Brazilian internet.
