Luísa Sonza undergoes a chemical cut. What’s the problem?

Last week, the Luisa Sonza decided to make a change in the look and told the news on social networks. “I cut the rest of my hair. Now, I have a new cut. I wanted to leave this cut for next year, but there won’t be time, because my hair ended earlier than expected”, said the singer in a video posted on Twitter.

According to her, her locks suffered a chemical cut and, therefore, she had to submit them to scissors ahead of schedule. “I changed my hair by chemical cutting,” she said.

What is chemical cutting?

When the strands undergo chemical procedures that use very strong actives, for example, hair dyeing and discoloration, they can become extremely fragile and break, resulting in what is called a chemical cut.

According to the Dr. Fernanda Nichelle, which operates exclusively in the aesthetic area, many people do these procedures frequently and end up getting scared when the damage happens. However, the doctor points out that the hair shaft undergoes changes throughout life and the response to this comes in different ways.

To avoid this problem, she recommends keeping your hair hydrated at all times, especially if you tend to bleach your hair. In addition, it emphasizes the importance of doing a strand test before the procedure to see how your locks react to that type of product.

“Well-treated, well-hydrated hair is less likely to undergo a chemical cut,” says the specialist.

The bad news is that there is no way to recover hair that has been chemically cut, it is necessary to let the strands grow naturally, without exposing them to new chemical processes and traumas, according to Dr. Fernanda Nichelle.

“The more natural the stem, the stronger it tends to be”, he concludes.
