When we watch a romance film, we sigh with love thinking that this could be our story, right?

The truth is that many of these films are produced based on real love stories, meaning that movie love can be legitimate love.

So, shall we meet any of them and enjoy the weekend to marathon?

1. The Vow (Forever) – 2012

In the film the actors play Paige and Leo, who in real life are called Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, they were newlyweds, but an accident leaves Paige (Krickitt) in a coma and when she wakes up she discovers that she has lost her memory of the last 18 months and She doesn’t recognize Leo (Kim) and doesn’t even remember when she fell in love with him. But Leo (Kim) was determined to rebuild his marriage.

This is a breathtaking story!

2. The Theory of Everything (The Theory of Everything) – 2015

This film is based on the story of Stephen Hawking, tells how he made discoveries relevant to the world of science, it also portrays his romance with Jane Wilde, a Cambridge student who became his wife. At 21 years of age, Hawking He discovered that he suffered from a degenerative motor disease, but that didn’t stop him from becoming one of the greatest scientists today and living a beautiful romance.

It’s a film for those who enjoy, in addition to beautiful romances, scientific discoveries.

3. Eat, Pray, Love – 2010

Elizabeth Gilbert, played by Julia Roberts in the movies, thinks she had everything she wanted in life: a house, a husband and a successful career. But recently divorced and facing a time of change, she feels confused about what is important in her life. Daring to leave her comfort zone, Liz embarks on a quest for self-discovery that takes her to Italy, India and Bali, and on this trip she meets José Nunes played by Javier Bardem and together they live a long love story.

4. Elisa y Marcela (Elisa and Marcela) – 2019

The Spanish film tells the incredible story of a lesbian couple who got married in a Catholic church in 1901, met at teaching school in the mid-1880s, and fell in love. Marcela’s family sent her to Madrid to get away from her love for another woman, but to no avail. The two pretended to be permanently separated, Marcela became pregnant and announced that she would marry Elisa’s cousin, named Mario. Marcela’s fiancé was, however, Elisa dressed in a suit and with her hair cut short.

It’s one of those stories that grips you from beginning to end!

5. Kiss & Cry (Kiss and Cry) – 2017

This film is based on the true story of Carley Allison, who at the age of 18, was diagnosed with a very rare tracheal cancer. She is a skater but finds the strength in music and her boyfriend to continue fighting.

This film is for those who like romance accompanied by lots of music.

6. A United Kingdom – 2016

This film tells the story of the love affair between an African prince and a British woman, he went to the United Kingdom to study law and was supposed to return home as soon as he graduated, marry someone of his ethnicity and be crowned leader. But he fell in love with Ruth. At the time, the racial issue was quite complicated in London, white and black people didn’t go out together in the United Kingdom, much less a white woman and a black man.

This story sparked an international controversy due to an interracial marriage, it is one of those films where the romance is a fight for something bigger.

All these stories, in addition to telling beautiful romances, also reveal to us the struggles, persistence and desire of a couple to be together, they overcome racial, gender, distance and health problems barriers to live for the sake of love. It is breathtaking!
