Is it possible to redefine the cheekbones? – GOOD SHAPE

Over the years, our face undergoes a series of changes due to the natural aging process, such as the appearance of wrinkles, blemishes and sagging. However, a lesser alteration of this process discussed, but which bothers many people is the loss of definition in the cheekbones. In addition to the reabsorption of fat compartments, the loss of firmness and elasticity of the skin and the loss of muscles, factors that lead to the appearance of sagging with a consequent decrease in the facial contour and definition of the cheekbones, the aging process also causes that the bones lose thickness and projection, which also makes the cheekbones more dull. But for those who want to rejuvenate their appearance and recover contour and facial harmony, the good news is that there are already procedures capable of restoring definition to the cheekbones.

Injectable fillers are one of the alternatives for replacing fat compartments, treating bone loss and restoring the volume of cheekbones. The procedure is performed using needles or microcannulas, which reduce discomfort and the risk of bruising. Fillers are injected directly into the region to enhance the structure.

Fat grafting is another option. This is a technique similar to applying fillers, but which uses the patient’s own body fat to fill, define and add volume to the cheekbones region. For this, the fat is removed through liposuction, which also helps to thin and define the region where it is performed, being then treated to remove blood and other cellular residues. After the treatment, the fat is grafted in the region of the cheekbones through small needles, which is done in a surgical center. The advantage of this type of procedure is that the fat has a low probability of being rejected by the body and promotes more natural and almost permanent results, since only about 40% of the total volume is reabsorbed.

Finally, we have the malar prosthesis implant. For those looking for really permanent results, this is an interesting option that consists of inserting silicone prostheses in the cheekbones to give definition and contour to the region. Despite being a surgical intervention and therefore more invasive than other options, the technique promotes natural and satisfactory results but requires a recovery time. However, the final result may take a while to be visible, since swelling and bruising in the region is common after surgery.
