I’m in love with both of us

Not that it was impossible to believe before, but it was beyond my reach. I didn’t see myself in a future shared with someone, you know? I’ve always been independent and I’ve always liked being that way. But I like who I am and how I am when I’m with you. I’m still free, I’m still independent, but by your side. ‘Cause you fly this crazy life with me.

I’m in love with the way you make me see that life is more colorful. That everything has a positive side. That not all people who arrive, leave. That a smile is different when the reason is a beautiful memory with someone important. That there is still a world filled with love – and mine, you stole it.

In your mission as a thief of my heart, you took my smile and my toasty look.

A smile that appears with your arrival and remains while you are there. It’s a different smile, you know? It only appears for you. There’s an inexplicable gleam in my eyes that only light up when they’re in your direction. Only for you. And yet, I can still fly free without feeling dependent. I can still be myself – being with you. I didn’t get lost for someone, I found myself in someone.

We are what we are by choice – and we could have chosen others from the crowd. But it was us. And there is nothing truer than what we have.
