I still love you, and I know you love me too, but I’m afraid our love won’t work… again

After so long I look at you and I continue to see golden sparkles around you, butterflies flutter in my stomach and even more in my heart. After so long, I still love you, I won’t deny it, and I know you love me too, but I’m afraid our love won’t work… again.

I’m afraid of failing again, of getting hurt, of realizing that it wasn’t meant to be, that we weren’t made for each other. I’m afraid of forcing love so much, of doing so much to keep it, that we’ll break it and that there’s nothing left of it. Not the memory.

Risk everything or conform to being that love that is seen from afar? To be cowards or courageous?

We continue to love each other as much as the first day we said our “yes” and neither of us sees their future without the other; we complement each other, we think about each other and sometimes we even need each other. We keep asking ourselves what we did wrong, but we wonder even more why we can’t pick up where we left off.

It was fate, life, we, we don’t know, however, we coincide again, what will we do now? What will we do with the opportunity we have today, what will we do with the love we still hold and refuse to admit, merge, feel?

We love each other like two teenagers, but we think like adults, and as such, we are afraid that it will fail again.

We are afraid of being hurt like the last time, broken, torn apart: for love. We are afraid even if we love each other, and maybe it’s because we don’t love each other as much as we think. Or yes, and we like to love each other… but from afar.

I always miss you and love you more and more. But if we are better from afar, I prefer to love you from a distance, because up close we can exhaust our love.

I’d rather love you from afar than stop loving you up close.
