I like you but I really love you

I once heard that when you like someone “you like it because” followed by something that makes you proud of that person or at least makes you feel good about them, but that when you love someone, “you love in spite of” all the faults the person may have, in spite of all that you would not bear in someone else.

I like you for many reasons. But I love you despite several howevers.

I like you because you have an incredible disposition to do anything, including supporting my craziest plans.

But I love you even though you are always sleepy and even sleep and leave me talking to myself.

I like you because you want to embrace the world, you like it and you are always willing to help everyone and that is beautiful.

But I love you despite seeing that you are often at your limit and not knowing how to say “no” even when you should.

I like you because you are always willing to listen to me and always want to help solve any problem.

But I love you even though you get mad when I can’t vent and think it’s because of lack of confidence, even though I say I’m the problem.

I like you because you have an enviable patience with me and anyone else.

But I love you despite your bad mood and the times you get monosyllabic with me.

I like you because you are a very intelligent person and you know a lot of things that I don’t.

But I love you despite the times you write something wrong and I’m dying to correct you.

I like you because you love your family and do everything for them.

But I love you despite seeing that you carry a burden that is not yours and that in a way it stays between us.

I like you because you always give me your olives and strawberries.

But I love you even though you love avocados.

I like you because you respect my opinions.

But I love you even though you insist I should root for your team.

I like you because you make me want to be someone better.

But I love you even though I know you will always be a better person than I am.

I like you because you sing to me.

But I love you despite your near inability to write something cute to give me.

I like you because you like pizza.

But I love you even though you always choose the cheese one.

I like you because you are similar to me in many ways, yes, we match.

But I love you even though we are so different, yes, we complete each other.

I like you because I think you are an amazing human being and for everything you represent to me.

But I love you despite knowing that perfection doesn’t exist and knowing your flaws.

I see you, really.

I like you.

But mostly I love you.
