How to put in a tampon – 8 steps

Steps to follow:

It is normal that the first time you are nervous about using the tampon, but you should relax because it will be easier to insert it. Since when you are nervous the muscles tense and make it difficult to act put on a tampon.

Read the instructions first and then leave them where you can see them, leaving both hands free.

Wash your hands and find the position that is most comfortable for you: sitting on the toilet, with your knees open, leaning slightly with your knees bent and apart; or standing, place one foot on the toilet.

Remove the packaging from the tampon and look for the circular markings at the end of the applicator or outer tube. Hold the tampon with your writing fingers (index and thumb). The cord has to hang from the inner tube (it is smaller and is inside the large or outer tube).

With your other hand, open your labia (the folds around the entrance to your vagina) and place the rounded tip of the applicator at the entrance to your vagina, pointing it toward your back. Remember that the vagina extends backwards, towards your spine (not upwards). See image 1.

Gently push the tampon towards the entrance and stop when your fingers touch your body and the outer tube is completely inside your vagina. See image 2.

When the inner tube is also inside your body, use your thumb to pull out the outer tube. You have to make sure that the string hangs outside your body, so that later you can remove the tampon and take it out.

Tips
