A quick and easy way to know if you are legally divorced, is by going to the Civil Registry. It is there where all marriages, separations and divorces carried out in Spain or legalized in the country are archived, so it is here where we will find the answer.

To the Civil Registry you must bring a copy of your ID and have on hand the place and date on which the marriage took place, since the marriage certificate will be located with these data. This document is where the divorce must appear, including the number of the judgment and the court in which it was issued. If this information does not appear on the marriage certificate, it is because our divorce has not yet taken place or, if it occurred abroad, it has not been legalized in Spain.
