Protect your home, family, and yourself with easy-to-create links protective glasses. This ancient form of witchcraft can be used to protect anything you want.

By placing herbs, crystals, written spells, magical water, and other ingredients in a magic jar, you can create a protective jar that can be kept on a windowsill or buried in your garden. These protective glasses emit a persistent magic wall to protect anything that needs to be protected from harm.

We found witch bottles and protective jars at civil war sites! They may have been used to ward off evil spirits.

When I move to a new apartment or home I like to make a new protective glass as my first spell. I have set an intention for all the good things to happen in my new space and to ward off anything bad.

Then I bury the jar near my house. Of course, when you live in an apartment complex you want to do it without being seen. But if you have your own home, burying the jar somewhere on your property is fine.

You can use any mix of ingredients as long as their magical equivalents match your intent.

Not every glass charm is buried, but I prefer burying them to protect a home. You can determine what you want to do.

Remember that a buried magic jar has access to the earth’s natural stores of magic, so you don’t have to dig it up and recharge it over and over again.

Which glasses should I use?

If you want to use small jars I sell these in my Etsy shop. These mini jars are perfect for making protective glass earrings or a protective glass necklace that are small and light enough to wear without pain.

For spells that use larger ingredients, larger jars work best. Remember that the larger the container, the more digging you will have to bury!

Old mason jars, spaghetti sauce jars, wine bottles, and baby food jars were used for some of my favorite jar charms. If you don’t have one of these jars ready to use, visit a local thrift store. They often sell glasses that have been donated to them.

You should always understand what goes into your spells. Here’s why I decided to include all the ingredients and tools.

sigil

A sigil is a personalized symbol that represents your intent. There are several methods of making a seal, some easier than others. As you make more sigils, you will likely come up with your own system using the alphabet, different fonts, and symbols like runes.

You can create sigils for personal protection, protecting children, the safety of your friends and loved ones, gaining the protection of a god or goddess, and really any other goal you might have.

incense incense

Olibanum, or frankincense, is a resin from which incense is made. It is a spiritually powerful scent that aids in meditation and centers us as we connect to spiritual realms.

It is a fragrance commonly used for protection and purification. Therefore, it is popular in the manufacture of all kinds of magic glasses. In this spell we use the incense smoke to purify the glass used and fill it with protective energy.

1 black candle

Black candles are used for both offensive and defensive magic. In this case, we use it defensively to ward off negative energy and bad intentions.

The black candle wax is also used to seal the jar used in this spell.

basil

Basil is most commonly known for its use in money and prosperity magic, but it is a protective herb. In some cultures, basil is believed to appease deities and protect against evil.

calendula

Marigold wreaths are sometimes hung over a doorway to keep evil and negativity out of a home. Adding to this magic jar has the same benefit.

An added benefit is that this flower is associated with love and fills a home with an enduring love for the whole family.

sage

Sage is known for smoke purification in a home. It is associated with immortality, protection, purification, success and wisdom.

If you prefer not to use white sage, any other variety of sage is perfectly acceptable.

Sage will also protect the house from grief and death.

rosemary

This ingredient is used in witchcraft for purification, strength, protection, and memory. It is connected to the sun and brings the sun protection to your home.

For students, magic jars made of rosemary help with all study and school work.

cloves

Carnations also invoke protection as prosperity and purification. This herb casts out negative beings like ghosts and demons from people and homes.

Carnations in a protective glass prevent others from gossip about you or your family. It will also banish negativity.

chamomile

Chamomile is associated with the power of the sun and strong solar deities such as Cernunnos, Helios and Ra.

Chamomile in this magic jar protects you and your home from spiritual attacks. Hexes, curses, and psychic attacks cannot touch you.

Parsely

This herb is protective and cleansing. It also helps witches communicate with spirits and draw love.

Adding parsley to this magical vessel promotes fertility, good luck, strength, rebirth, and protection.

How to use your protective glass

A ward jar can be used in many ways. As I said before, I prefer to bury my jars when trying to protect my home.

But if your glamor jar is to protect you, you can wear that or carry jars with you. This is obviously more realistic if your magic jar is smaller.

You can put your magic jars on a windowsill to charge them from the sun and moon. Or you can put them under your bed to protect you from nightmares.

A protective glass can be given to someone as a gift and it protects them. Make sure you tell them where you think the magic jar should go, whether to bury it, carry it, or put it under the bed.
