How to clean your makeup brushes and sponges –

And, just like makeup, brushes and sponges can also be contaminated, bringing problems to the skin. “It is essential that these accessories remain clean, preventing the accumulation of dust and bacteria in their fibers. These microorganisms can cause allergies, irritation and even skin infections such as acne,” shares the makeup artist and eyebrow designer, Claudia de Santana.

HOW FREQUENTLY TO CLEAN MAKEUP BRUSHES

Cláudia believes that brushes and sponges should be sanitized weeklysince, in addition to avoiding problems with fungi and bacteria, clean accessories allow for a better (and faster) finish of makeup.

STEP BY STEP TO PROPER HYGIENIZATION

Wet the accessory with lukewarm water Put a small amount of neutral shampoo or brush cleaner in the palm of your hand (see some options below) With circular movements, gently rub the bristles in your hand Make the movements until the water comes out completely clean Rinse the bristles and squeeze the excess with a clean towel Adjust the bristles until they are in their original shape Let the brushes hang or rest on the edge of a surface (This keeps the bristles in their original shape. Never let the brush dry on a towel , as the bristles can become moldy).

Tip: Avoid drying brushes vertically, with the bristles facing upwards. This can cause water to reach the base, disintegrating the glue.

To clean the brushes, you will need warm water, a washcloth and a mild shampoo or brush cleaner.
