How the simple dot tattoo moved social media

Small tattoos can have huge meanings. The proof of this is the tattoo of a simple point made on the hand of a client, which transformed the life of tattoo artist Lucas Leandro, 22 years old, and moved social networks. The post went viral on Facebook and has been shared by more than 50,000 people.

O awesome.club spoke with the tattoo artist to find out a little more about this exciting story, especially for those who have a special relationship with animals.

In 2018, Lucas received a client at the studio where he worked in São Paulo, who asked for a dot tattoo. William wanted the design to be made to represent a small wound that looked, in the words of the tattoo artist, “a mosquito bite”.

The client told the story behind the tattoo: he had a little dog for most of his life, who lived with him. In 2018, she had cancer and William went through a real battle to save his partner, including buying medicine and treating the wounds.

In the last days of life, the puppy seemed more active. During a game with the owner, she took a light bite on his hand and ended up making that little wound. That same day, she died after a seizure.

As he has always lived with dogs, the tattoo artist was moved by the report. “The urgency of doing that stitch on the wound that would disappear in about 2 days, the simplicity of the tattoo, and William himself brought me a feeling of actually getting a ‘real’ tattoo”, revealed Lucas.

When posting the account, Lucas thought it would be just another regular post about tattoos and didn’t expect it to go viral.

“Since it was a spot, I felt like sharing why it was a spot and the experience. It’s pretty hard to explain that sometimes the design is what matters the least🇧🇷 The experience of the entire tattooing process and the life of the person that forms a context. A tattoo, in my view, is much more than that, ”she said.

To this day, the publication thrills Internet users, who identify with the story of William and his dog and understand the power that certain tattoos have.

“Only those who love pets will understand,” wrote a follower. “Beautiful story, tattoos are for the strong”, said an internet user. “This is the true meaning of a tatto”, added another.

Lucas claims that this was one of the strongest tattoos of his life and says he is “eternally grateful” for it.

“That’s what a tattoo is! It’s pain, it’s emotion, it’s dedication! It’s for those who have experience, for those who suffered, fell and got back up! Tattoos mark stories!”, Lucas wrote in the publication.

Tattoo artist for 5 years, Lucas now works in the studio The Skull Concept Housein São Paulo, and understands that his profession plays an important role in the lives of his clients.

“A tattoo can enhance the entire image of a person, as well as condemn their image. The tattoo artist has this responsibility, to guide the entire process and experience so that it does not become a trauma in the person’s life. The human side of the thing it is also part, after all, depending on the tattoo we will spend a lot of time together. The way each one carries their tattoo is part of a whole very personal context for each one. A lot of self-knowledge is always necessary”, he reveals.
