Hello my dears and welcome to Magic Magic. I’ve posted some of my favorite spells lately, including this anti-anxiety spell, a home protection ritual, and a spell to help you sleep. I also just posted a honey jar spell for love, and as I was writing it I found that a frequently asked question is “how long does it take for a love spell to work?”. Good question! I want to answer it today.

While the question is how long does it take for a love spell to work, this post can be applied to the general question of how long does it take a spell to work”.

What is a spell?

First, let’s describe exactly what a spell is. Because that’s not always clear, is it? How does magic actually work? How does it even affect expressing a wish and then sending it into the ether?

A magical spell is the focusing of life energies accompanied by words, actions, magical tools and ingredients. These energies are said to affect emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of the world around us. By focusing so hard on what we want, we hope to create a laser beam of intent that will change the way energies move in our reality, effectively fulfilling our desires. What we do is turn our dreams into reality.

Spells are important in many cultures. Sure, they often appear in different forms, but the idea is the same. Even people who don’t realize they’re casting spells are casting spells. Have you ever left anything for the tooth fairy? You put an item under your pillow, wish a fairy something in return and lo and behold, something usually appears. Well sure, that’s your parents putting money under your pillow, but if you didn’t believe in the tooth fairy, surely the money wouldn’t manifest, right? Your parents would stop giving it to you because you stopped believing in the tooth fairy’s magic.

How long does it take for a love spell to work?

This question really depends on what type of spell you’re casting and what religion you’re working from. There are different traditions, and Wiccans often draw inspiration from many different places. Some spells may take a few days to manifest, while others may be the result of weeks or months of work. The honey jar spell is a good example of this. They are usually made with the intention of working for months, maybe even years.

Traditionally, many pagans believe that if you haven’t seen the result of your spell in a lunar cycle (28 days), you may need to go back and repeat the spell. Hoodoo has a number of longer spells, some even involving burning a candle for a full 7 days before the spell even begins to work. Such spells usually give a time frame in which you should see results.

When casting spells, remember that different spells take different amounts of time to cast. Special love spells can sometimes take a while and may need to be repeated multiple times. Magic and spells are never a “one stop shop” to fix anything in your life. You might want to manifest love in your life and cast a love spell, but sometimes that spell has a different result than what you initially thought.

Your spell may have worked, but if you’re expecting a black and white result like “he loves me or he doesn’t love me,” then you might be disappointed. Always remember that magic is a manifestation of energy and not a manipulation of someone else. You can encourage someone to love you, but trying to use magic to force them to love you won’t result in a relationship you’re happy with. No one can be forced to do anything they don’t want, and if they could, you would be violating the Threefold Law by forcing them to do it.

How do you know if your love spell is working? While this may seem like a basic question, the reality is a bit more complex. Knowing if your spell is working can sometimes be difficult. When can you tell the spell was a success or not? Especially with love spells, the success area is very gray. You can cast a spell that expects an outpouring of love to come your way, and in reality you can affect the feelings of the object of your affection just a little bit. In my book, however, that would still count as a success.

Since love spells usually affect other people, it is difficult to know how their feelings have or have not changed, making it difficult to measure success. For example, your love spell might have cast and the other person might have stronger feelings for you, but that doesn’t mean they’re acting on those feelings. So you don’t know the spell was a success until they tell you, which may be much later or even never.

Because of this uncertainty about whether a spell will work or not, we recommend that you just go about with your daily routine and don’t worry too much! The more you doubt the power of the spell, the less likely it is to work. Try to stay as positive as possible and look for small signs that might show your spell is working.

What signs might indicate the success of your spell?

1. Do you feel calm immediately after casting your spell? Did you feel like you had a little boost of power through you and felt like you had conquered a mountain?

Is the person you cast the spell to pay more attention to you? This doesn’t have to be physical attention. Txting or do they call you more? Do they pay more attention when you talk to them? Do you catch them you look at differently?

Do other people talk to you? you talk about the person you cast the spell for more? Are you mentioned positively together in conversation? This can indicate that your persona is speaking positively about you and your friends are noticing a mutual connection.

2. Do you feel positive and satisfied with your current situation? If you’re lucky, the person who cast the spell will notice! Happy people attract other people. Everyone wants to be with someone who is confident in themselves and obviously feels good about themselves.
