How I Deleted Dairy Products for a Month and Continue to Today

Hi! My name is Natalia and i always had problems with my skin🇧🇷 As a teenager, I suffered from severe acne and tried everything to get rid of it: expensive makeup, doctor visits, countless diets. Puberty passed, and the skin got much better, but the enlarged pores, blackheads and post-acne blemishes stayed with me for many years. Until one day I decided to exclude dairy products from my daily diet.

Today I would like to tell the readers of awesome.club about what happened to my skin after I completely abstained from milk, and sharing my experience of how I’ve been living without yogurt, ice cream and coffee without milk for almost a year.

Difficulties in breaking addiction

I excluded my favorite foods, and after three months, my skin thanked me.

Dairy products disappeared from my daily diet in 2018. At that time I read about their negative effects on skin, weight and general well-being. Also, I started to notice that after eating these types of products in large quantities, blackheads soon appeared on my forehead🇧🇷

I must say that I was never a fan of pure milk, but it was very difficult not to consume yogurts, butter and cheeses that I liked so much. But my curiosity prevailed, and I decided to do this experiment.

What was most difficult?

Milkshake at my favorite restaurant? Not. Ice cream cone on a hot day? Not. A spoonful of mayonnaise in a bowl of soup? Even worse. Rejecting products that you are used to consuming is not easy, but at this point you You have to have a lot of willpower🇧🇷 Who knows, maybe this is the way I will finally get rid of my skin problems for good? That was the question I asked myself every time I fought my urge to buy something when I passed the dairy department at the supermarket. The biggest tragedy for me was coffee without milk🇧🇷 But to my surprise, after six months I stopped liking cappuccino and latte, and fell in love (although not at first) with Americano and espresso. Coffee without milk has a special, complete, harmonious taste and a pleasant bitter aroma. Why didn’t I notice this before? On the other hand, there are many alternatives to cow’s milk, so there’s no need to deprive yourself of your favorite coffee. My family didn’t understand my choice and always wanted me to drink milk (“Don’t make it up!”) and eat milk pudding (“Go, just a little bit”). My friends and co-workers too; after learning that I am on a dairy-free diet, they started to pressure me and offer me to eat what I couldn’t eat🇧🇷 In these cases it is better to do the following: not to argue, not to prove anything, but also to resist temptations. Food without consumption of dairy products is also a type of diet🇧🇷 So don’t forget about your self-control, because there is a risk of not resisting. This happened to me only twice at first. It is important to remember that the sooner you get used to the new way of eating, the faster your body will adapt and you will see the result. Relapses will keep you back where you started.

The result: base effect

The condition of my skin has really improved. The pores became almost invisible, the expression lines smoothed, the tone evened out. Pimples appear very rarely, only if I eat too much candy. Before, I always had a cold. Especially in the cold seasons of the year, I always had a runny nose that never went away and an unpleasant discomfort in my throat. In the last year I got sick only once. I don’t know if this has anything to do with dairy products, but my immunity has never been stronger. When I decided to do this experiment, I planned to live without milk for 2 or 3 months at most. But after that time passed, I realized that this diet did a lot of good for me and that with it I am feeling much better. Over time, my desire to buy milk-based products simply disappeared.and eating without them has become commonplace.

I’ve never seen my skin like this

Some celebrities also support not consuming dairy products. For example, model Elena Perminova shared an experience similar to mine with her followers: “I had small pimples below the facial epidermis for a long time, they were invisible to others, but they bothered me a lot. My Australian dermatologist once advised that I cut out all dairy products from my diet for at least 2 weeks. No cheese, no yogurt, no milk in the coffee, nothing. I noticed the result already on the 5th day, I have never seen my skin like this”.

Consume or not?

There is still no definitive answer as to whether dairy products are good or bad. By the way, all the necessary substances (vitamins A, D, calcium) that a person stops ingesting because of a diet without milk, can be found in other foods, such as tofu, almonds, vegetables, leaves, broccoli, eggs, mushrooms and salmon.

I particularly liked this life without milk, and I still don’t want to go back to my previous diet🇧🇷 I don’t spend so much money buying cosmetics anymore, I don’t cleanse my skin and I don’t use foundation. I only buy a facial soap and makeup remover. With the money I save, I buy new dresses. And I prefer it that way.

Perhaps for some people it is very helpful to just abstain from these products for a while and then go back to consuming them. Anyway, each organism is unique. So if you want to go on this diet, consult your doctor first.
