When I was a child I loved video games, but I kept wondering why the hero always had to be a boy (like Mario, Link or Megaman).
The women who appeared were often secondary characters who needed someone to save them or simply an ornament.
In the video game Crus’n USA a girl danced for you for winning.
Over time, the developers tried to include us and we were finally able to choose our gender.
However, many times the characters we had to choose from were sexualized. Come on, who would go to war in a bikini?
Fortunately, things have already started to change. The armor we can choose is more realistic and we can also be part of the team. You just need to look at the characters from Overwatch, the best game of 2016:
D.Va

She is a 19-year-old girl who pilots a state-of-the-art mecha to defend her land, South Korea. D.Va is not afraid to enter the battlefield nor does she show compassion for her opponents.

Dr. Angela Ziegler is a brilliant scientist and peace advocate. She decided to join Overwatch to save lives on a larger scale.

This Egyptian girl comes from a lineage of decorated soldiers and her greatest goal is to serve with honor. When she was in the army she earned the loyalty of everyone who was under her command, she now works in security for a private company but still dreams of fighting for justice.
Tracer
Tracer was the youngest person to be accepted into Overwatch’s experimental flight program. Because of an accident her molecules changed and she can now control time.

Amélie was kidnapped and subjected to a neural conditioning program. They broke her will and repressed her will so that she would murder the love of her life. Now, she feels nothing other than the satisfaction of a job well done.
