What is color psychology?

Color science is applied in various disciplines such as art, advertising, fashion, the field of signage, marketing, architecture… and, without realizing it, influences our daily decision making.
Its origins date back to ancient China, where the cardinal points were represented in blue, red, white and black. In the center of these cardinal points was yellow, the color that designated the Chinese Empire.
The first study of color psychology as we know it today was developed by the famous German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who wrote a treatise called “Color Theory”. In it, the concept of harmony and subjective perception of color appears for the first time. Based on this study, the psychologist Eva Heller wrote in 2008 the book color psychology, expanding Goethe’s conclusions and deepening the study of the relationship between color and the human mind.
