I don’t want a perfect relationship, I want one that’s real

I don’t want a relationship that is only filled with displays of love and extravagant gestures. I don’t want a relationship that’s based on perfection and how it’s seen by the outsider.

I don’t want a perfect relationship. I want one that is real.

I want substance. I want the good and the bad, for the good and for the bad. I want all the tears and all the smiles that can be genuinely felt. I want the hugs and the kisses and the arguments that end in silence.

The truth is, no relationship is perfect. No relationship can withstand the harshest, coldest winds. No relationship can be completely safe when heavy rain hits the foundations of the house. No relationship is unbreakable. Every relationship can break. Every relationship can go through difficult times. And every relationship has to go through these difficult times for it to be real.

Every relationship must go through darkness to come to light.

It’s your effort that makes a relationship work. It is your struggle that makes the difference and your tears that water the flowers in this garden. And we all deserve relationships that flourish.

I want a relationship that grows and matures rather than one that always remains stagnant. I want a relationship that is a force of light mixed with thunder and rain.

I don’t want the comfort zone. I don’t want silence. I want the screams and screams, if that’s what’s going to make us grow. I want passion and lively voices that really matter. I want a relationship that can fall, but that will have the strength to get up and grow again.

I want a relationship that is alive.

I want to hear someone scream for me, not whisper for me. I want you to scream your love for me, not be silent. I ended up with toxic relationships that always ended in frustration. I will end, if need be, relationships that refuse to grow out of fear.

I want the kind of relationship that makes every cell in my body vibrate. I want the kind of relationship that makes the blood in my veins run like the wind whenever I’m with my person. I want passion. I want substance.

I don’t need likes on that “perfect” photo of ours, because that’s not a real representation of love. Pursuing perfection will only leave you alone once. Pursuing perfection in a relationship will only drive you further away from your partner. So look for imperfection.

And seek a love that is not washed away with whispers and false expectations. Seek a love that is real in all its beauty and in all its flaws.
