How are 10 child actors who competed for awards for acting in soap operas today?

Acting is not just for grown-ups, many children and teenagers rock the small screens, movies and soap operas, giving their best. Thanks to their good performance, some even compete for prizes, giving their work even more notoriety. Year after year, Rede Globo distributes trophies to those who had a better highlight — the Best of the Year — and, obviously, that the child actors could not be left out of this.

We, from awesome.club, we gathered 10 child actors who competed for awards for their excellent performance on the small screen and we show you how they are today. Check out!

1. Sérgio Malheiros (Da Cor do Pecado, 2004)

Before giving life to Raí, in A Cor do Pecado, Sérgio Malheiros had already participated in Gente Inocente, a program led by Márcio Garcia. However, it was in the soap opera that the little boy gained his first prominence, the character was the son of the protagonists played by Taís Araújo and Reynaldo Gianecchini. It was in his first role that the young man won several awards, including Best Child Actor, in the Best of the Year. More than 15 years later, Malheiros is still working in the audiovisual field, participating not only in soap operas, but also working as a screenwriter and director.

3. Vitor Novello (Tropical Paradise, 2007)

Vitor Novello started on television when he was just 10 years old and, the following year, he was featured in Paraíso Tropical, competing for the Best of the Year award and winning the Extra Television Award, as Best Child Actor. After that, the boy never left his acting career, between soap operas and theater, he continued acting. Novello says that the telenovela was very special for him and he cherishes the memories: “It’s very different to see me acting as a child. It’s strange to see myself that size, but little by little it reminds me of so many important moments in my life”.

4. Cadu Paschoal (Caminho das Índias, 2009)

Cadu Paschoal made his debut on television in Caminho das Índias, alongside big names like Lima Duarte and Tony Ramos. It was precisely for this role that the little actor competed for the Best of the Year award and won the 12th Contigo Award for Best Child Actor. The young man continues his acting life and believes that each role is important for his own development: “I think that if you don’t leave, in a certain way, transformed from a job, it was meaningless. Every job makes me grow.”

5. Clara Tiezzi (Ti-Ti-Ti, 2010)

Clara Tiezzi shone as Mabi in Ti-Ti-Ti; the young woman was the daughter of Jacques Leclair, lived by Alexandre Borges and gave a brake to the madness made by her father. With so much prominence, the young woman won many awards for her role, including Best of the Year, at the Globo Awards: “Mabi is my little xodo! Ti-Ti-Ti was a job that added a lot to me, both in terms of experience and professional recognition. The character had a huge impact that no one expected, and earned me eight awards”. After performing in the soap opera, she continued acting, participating in Malhação, Rebelde, among other telenovelas on the small screen.

6. Carol Macedo (Passione, 2010)

Carol Macedo made her television debut in Passione, playing the character Kelly. With so much drama that involved the character, she soon achieved a positive highlight and was nominated for several awards, including Best of the Year, as a child actress. Since then, she has never left television drama and, year after year, lands in a soap opera; she claims that she always had the support of her family to pursue her career: “My parents always believed, they always supported me. I think that’s why it worked.”

7. Luiz Felipe Mello (Salve Jorge, 2012)

Luiz Felipe Mello was a cutie aside in the midst of so much drama in the soap opera Salve Jorge and, logically, it didn’t take long to gain the public’s attention. It was with this role that the little boy competed for the Best Child Actor award, in Globo’s Best of the Year. Since then, the young actor has been appearing in productions, such as the series Os Dias Eram Assim and Haja Coração, in addition to lending his voice in dubbing, such as Jovem Andy in Toy Story 4 and Esguicho in Looking for Dory.

8. Giovanna Rispoli (Boogie Oogie, 2014)

Giovanna Rispoli debuted on television and in cinema in the same year, 2014 — in the soap opera Em Família and in the film O Menino no Espelho. In the same year, she scored in the soap opera Boogie Oogie, as the character Cláudia, and it was with this role that she competed for four awards, taking two of them home, the Melhores do Ano and the Prêmio Contigo! of TV. Since then, the young woman has not left television drama, going through more soap operas, films and series, including Temporada de Verão, a Netflix original.

9. Sabrina Nonata (Babylon, 2015)

Sabrina Nonata gained prominence in the soap opera Babilônia, in which she played Júlia, daughter of Regina, Camila Pitanga. On the small screen, the girl not only enchanted but also moved the audience in impactful scenes alongside Pitanga. And it was precisely because of the great prominence that the little actress competed for the Best of the Year award, as Best Child Actress.

10. Gabriel Palhares (Liberdade, Liberdade, 2016)

Gabriel Palhares made his television debut in Força-Tarefa, but it was Liberdade, Liberdade that turned all the spotlight on the little boy. With this plot, Palhares competed for the Best of the Year award and won the Extra Television Award. The young man, now a little older, continues acting, and says he would like to discover new faces of this work: “I want to create my acting multiverse and study to discover my facets with art. The soap operas and series I made led me to many inspirations, but I’m still very young and I want to use all the tools for my creative restlessness”.
