Homemade exfoliator for all skin types

Exfoliation is a treatment that can be done even at home, with common ingredients. It is advisable to exfoliate the skin once a week on the face and every 15 days on the whole body. Eliminating dead body cells stimulates natural skin renewal, preventing ingrown hairs, blackheads, pimples and excessive oil. Thus, exfoliated skin is cleaner, hydrated and softer.

face scrub

When we wash our face several times a day, we have the impression that our skin is not completely clean. With a good homemade exfoliation, we can alleviate this unpleasant feeling. First, wash your face, neck and décolleté well with an appropriate soap for your skin type, then apply the exfoliator to your face.

There are several types of homemade face scrub recipes for every skin type. Check out some of them:

Exfoliator for oily skin

  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Mix the ingredients and with circular movements, exfoliate the face lightly so as not to hurt the skin. Then massage your face for three minutes. Rinse with plenty of water and to finish, apply an astringent lotion to close the pores.

Tip: Oily skin also needs to be hydrated. Opt for oil-free gel products that are specific to this skin type.

Tip: To moisturize very dry areas like knees, elbows, feet and hands, apply almond oil every night before bed.

Exfoliator for all skin types

  • half papaya
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar

Mash the papaya and mix it with the sugar. With light and circular movements, exfoliate the skin for three minutes. Rinse your face well and then apply a facial toner or astringent lotion.

Tip: The big secret to beautiful skin is to drink more water and take less sun. So you keep it hydrated, with a healthy glow and protected from premature aging that excess sun causes.

Exfoliator for sensitive skin

  • 2 tablespoons of finely ground oat flakes
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Mix the ingredients and with circular movements, apply on the face. Then rinse with plenty of water. This mixture is gentler and therefore recommended for sensitive skin, as oatmeal helps to nourish the skin.

Tip: Sensitive skin needs extra care. Invest in a good sunscreen SPF 40 or higher and moisturizers to keep it looking good.

exfoliation for the body

A good body scrub protects our skin against blemishes that appear through dryness and also helps to activate circulation, preventing skin aging and sagging. This makes the skin cleaner and more hydrated. To apply homemade exfoliation on the body, it is advisable to take a bath with warm water and with damp skin, massage with the homemade mixture.

Where can you exfoliate your body? In areas like feet (helps to remove thicker skin), legs, knee, elbows – in all areas you deem necessary. However, be careful not to forcefully massage areas of very thin skin, such as the groin, as this can damage the skin.

Tip: Avoid very hot baths. High temperature water dries out the skin, hair, nails and cuticles. Always prefer warm or cold water. If you need to take a hot shower, don’t take too long.

Body scrub with vegetable loofah

If you prefer to make an exfoliation without having to make a homemade mixture, opt for the exfoliation with the vegetable loofah. You can find it in markets and fairs, it is a natural product. Prefer non-pigmented or industrialized versions. Use it to exfoliate lightly, as it can hurt if you use force when exfoliating. Before using it, wet it with warm water so that it is soft and to exfoliate, put a little moisturizing liquid soap. That way you get fragrant and smooth skin.

Tip: Two days before waxing, lightly exfoliate the area to be waxed. This causes the hairs to become ingrown and facilitates their total removal.
