Germinate lentils at home in 2 steps

Like other seeds, legumes they store inside all the nutrients that the plant needs to grow, but when they germinate these nutrients become more assimilable: starch is broken down into sugars, proteins are predigested and vitamins multiply.

A 60g serving of sprouted lentils provides the 10% of the proteins that are required per day, the 30% folic acid and the 17% of vitamin C. The presence of this vitamin also makes it possible to take better advantage of its richness in iron.

How to sprout lentils

Activation soak. Put a certain amount of raw lentils in a glass jar and leave them to soak in water for 8 to 12 hours. After this time, the soaking water is discarded, the jar is covered with a mosquito net and this cloth is fixed to the jar with a rubber band so that it does not fall when, in the following steps of the process, we turn the jar upside down.Daily rinses. The lentils are rinsed 2 or 3 times, without removing them from the jar, the jar is placed upside down (with the cloth) on a colander and without direct light and the lentils are allowed to germinate inside the jar. Every day, for 3 or 4 days, they are rinsed again 1 or 2 times, until the sprouts are ready.
