Gari finds 700 reais on the street and gives it back to the elderly woman to pay her sick daughter’s rent

Honesty and love for others are some of the most sought-after characteristics today, as we go through many delicate situations. On the other hand, those situations that show people’s honesty and uprightness of character are very rewarding moments.

O awesome.club found a good example that came from Rio de Janeiro, more specifically from Campo Grande. Follow this story.

The street cleaner Leandro da Silva found 700 reais on the street where he worked, and was not satisfied until he found the real owner.

The 72-year-old pensioner, Maria Eli da Silva, dropped the money when trying to put it in her pocket. She does housework to complete her monthly income and when she runs out of money, she despairs. The amount would be used to pay rent for his daughter, who became ill and had to stop working.

Leandro also lives on rent and, despite the amount found being equivalent to half his salary, he thought of nothing else but to return it. The most curious thing about this situation is that Dona Eli and Leandro already knew each other.

She was always kind enough to offer water, juice, and even chilled coconut water to the city’s cleaning workers, who brave Rio de Janeiro’s scorching heat most days.

As the saying goes: “a simple act of kindness is worth more than a great intention”.
