Death continues to be a fact that science cannot access, since it represents the end of communication with the world as we know it. One of the ways that have been used for more or less serious research is the analysis of the experiences of people who have been biologically close to death.
We found that people who did not know each other, from very distant places, speak the same way when asked about it. There are many coincidences in their words, no matter where they live, what their religion, profession, age or cultural level is.
People who have been close to death do not live it as a dream, but as if a part of them left their body and they could see everything that is happening around them.
Life after life
One of the first serious stories was that of the American psychiatrist, Raymond Moody, author of the 1975 book “Life after Life.” He was moved to write it after listening to Dr. George Ritchie (to whom he dedicates his book) about his experience during the war. This book encouraged numerous doctors, psychiatrists and scientists to study NDE phenomena, establishing various studies on hundreds of patients, especially in North American universities.
The phenomenology to which experts refer consists, first of all, in the fact that people suffer what is known as a “near death”, that is, they suffer from all the physical and clinical conditions of death, but that is not finished.
A typical case, in reference to this description, is the person who suffered an accident on the road and who appears to have died, at least clinically speaking; It is also common in patients who suffer a heart attack and for a few moments do not show vital signs. There are many more cases, but these are the most prominent and repeated.
What people who have been close to death experience
A fairly shared NDE (Near Death Experience) would have more or less the following story: when the circumstances of the accident, cardiac arrest or any other reason have occurred, the people around you (doctors, acquaintances, etc.) instantly try to recover their vital signs, both in the case of being in a hospital (closed area) or on the street (open).
Around them, a dramatic scene is presented, like a movie or play, where everyone desperately tries to help, there is crying, screaming, wailing, etc. Everyone is waiting to revive him, but while this is happening, contact with death has begun.
This person does not understand what is happening, suddenly, he “leaves” his body and stands above the scene. He looks down and sees himself surrounded by people trying to get him back. Everything seems to be useless, little by little he begins to understand that he is dead, and those around him are beginning to move away. There are many cases in which they are hospitalized and the electroencephalogram (EEG) has a straight line. All are signs of death.
People who have been close to death do not understand very well what is happening, they try to communicate with those around them but they cannot hear them or see them.
The recently deceased wants to console them, tell them that he is fine with them, but he cannot. He feels well, without pain and amazed, he cannot realize that he is dead. However, he feels a great force as if he were being pulled back. He notices that his “essence” or “spirit” is drawn towards a dark and immense tunnel, the end of which has a light that is getting bigger and bigger. During the journey, he senses that something or someone is watching him and offers him tranquility and peace.
The light is getting bigger and closer, the person is very well, calm, but at the same time anxious to know what is going to happen. When she reaches the end, she finds a place that could resemble the description of the biblical heaven, where there is a feeling of light, love and joy.
When life passes before your eyes
As if you were in the cinema, they show you a film with your entire life, the most important images since you were born, your memories, etc. It seems that he is judging himself, because there are good actions and others not so good.
In a matter of seconds, everything, absolutely everything you have done in your life, even the most banal and insignificant thing appears before your eyes on that screen. You realize that those actions that you did not consider worth observing were more important than you thought, it would have been beneficial to review them.
It is a kind of internal self-examination, which serves to draw one’s own conclusions about how life was.
He feels the presence of something superior that pulls him back again, very gently, just when he was beginning to feel at ease in that place, more liberated and serene. He tries to fight to stay, but fails, he returns to the tunnel again.
At that moment is when he realizes that his time to die has not come, that due to some divine “error” his life must continue on earth. And that this will be an experience that will allow him to change in many aspects: now he will say sorry, I love you, thank you more often.
He retraces his path through the tunnel, observing how it returns to the place where it started, where it had left its physical body, and projects itself into its interior. That’s when she wakes up and surprises the doctors and family. Everyone nearby can’t believe it, they are amazed and amazed. Vital functions gradually return to your body and happiness floods the place.
