Don’t expect from people what only God can do for you.

We live in a time when people, especially young people, are increasingly frustrated, disappointed, and sad, but I’m not talking about the absence of a smile on the face, I’m talking about an inner sadness that is sometimes masked with beautiful “pairs of teeth” .

It’s no wonder that the disease that has caused an “epidemic” in our youth is the dreaded one: Depression. A disease that comes softly as if it wasn’t there and without even realizing it, the person is already dominated by it.

For a long time I have been asking God what is the reason for this “epidemic” among our young people. And God through the phrase “Don’t expect from people what only I, the Lord, can do for you”, answered me.

In our human essence we have the need for worship, we need to worship something or someone and “dumbly”, excuse the word, we stop worshiping God and choose to worship people, dreams and material things.

It wasn’t once or twice that they came to me saying: “I’m broke. I was dating a boy and I gave myself completely to him, but I was disappointed; I had a girlfriend and I thought she was the woman of my life…”

And all these people who came with that kind of message, they were sad in their hearts and depressed.

And there are always people who are surrendering to marital relationships in a way that they should only surrender to God, because He exceeds all expectations, He does not disappoint us, He does not abandon us, HE LOVES US!

Let me tell you something that until now had the patience to read this message: Of all the things done and said by Jesus, he does not define the laws, nor the miracles and wonders, or read the bible and fast, not even pray as the most important things, but rather “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” , this being the greatest commandment.

He never once said: Love your boyfriend with all your heart; love your work with all your might; love your faculty with all your understanding; love your cell phone with all your soul.

We are half silly and insist on putting people and things in a position in our lives that the Lord said belong to Him.

Funny that in the gospel of Luke in chapter 14, verse 26, Jesus says: If anyone comes to me and loves his father, mother, wife, children, brothers and even HIS OWN LIFE (beware of self-love in excess) than me, cannot be my disciple.

Do I need to say anything else? Jesus made it very clear, that all love, all worship, all devotion, all place in our lives has to belong to the FATHER. Your boyfriend is not his cake, he is just the icing.

God is our cake, He is the air that we must breathe, because he breathed into our nostrils the breath of life.
Put all your chips in God and in God’s dreams, the more He will add. (Mt 6.33).
