Some love it, others hate it. But one thing is certain: those who run at least once a week can reduce the risk of premature death from various causes by up to 27%.

The conclusion came from a very significant investigation, since it had a sample of more than 230,000 people.

The systematic review, published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, analyzed 14 different studies and aimed to confirm that sport is associated with increased life expectancy. That’s because anyone who is a runner can:

Have up to a 27% lower risk of premature death; Have a risk of cardiovascular complications up to 30% lower; And have up to a 23% lower risk of cancer mortality.

And even if you just started running or can only complete shorter distances, you could still reap the same benefits as the research. Furthermore, the weekly frequency does not necessarily have to be high either: leaving for the asphalt once a week (for at least 50 minutes) is also enough, according to the study.
