Dean Cain, the star of ‘Superman’, gave up a movie career to raise his son alone

One such person is Dean Cain, best known for his role in the 1993 Superman series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Cain’s story as a single father who gave up his career to take care of his son proves that superheroes really do exist.

Although he became a world-renowned star, Dean Cain had a rough childhood. The son of actors Sharon Tanaka and Roger Tanaka, born in 1966, the boy and his mother were unfortunately abandoned by his biological father, and the future actor never got to know him. But when he was 4 years old, his mother married Christopher Cain. His biological father never contacted the actor again.

This painful relationship with his father shaped the actor immensely. In June 2000, he had a child with girlfriend Samantha Torres. Despite a long custody battle between him and Samantha, Cain didn’t give up and finally got sole custody in 2011. After going through childhood hardships due to his father, the actor made sure his son didn’t go through the same experience.

The Superman actor made a point of being with his son every step of the way, including cooking for him every meal.

He shared: “I cook all meals for my son. If I don’t cook, he doesn’t eat. I make a really bad steak. I’m also good at taking leftovers and turning them into something.”

Although he continued to act and raise his son alone, the actor made sure to be there every step of the way. 🇧🇷The last 18 years of my career have been based around being a father first and an actor second.”, shared Cain. He made a point of being present at all of his son’s jiu-jitsu events and even went to his football, basketball, and baseball coach.

The actor’s decision to put his career on hold and focus on raising his son earned him a lot of criticism, but Cain said: “I’m together. I am a very present father, and I would never do it any other way.” Even though he is raising his son alone, he has no regrets. “People ask things like, ‘Don’t you feel the need for anything?’ Yes, I felt the need for a life!”

Dean Cain’s upbringing of their son resulted in them sharing an unbreakable bond. The actor shared adorable photos of the two together on Instagram and stated, “I think he’s very proud of his dad, but to be honest, I’m very proud of him. I think he’s my favorite human being on the planet.🇧🇷
