Checklist: Provide all the details of your child’s birthday party

Children’s parties have invitations, cakes, sweets, snacks, music, souvenirs… There are so many details that it’s even scary to forget. So that everyone enjoys the celebration, including you who are organizing everything, the ideal is to put together a script in advance and be ready for whatever comes and comes.

The first thing to do is choose the date of the celebration. A month before the reception, imagine the type of party you want to throw, the guest list, plan the time, place and menu you want to serve. Based on that, start running after each checklit item. 4 weeks before the event

· Choose the theme of the party.

· Choose the date and time.

· Make the guest list. The number of guests will define the other items such as food and drink.

3 weeks before the event

· Plan the menu and calculate the quantity.

· Decide if you will prepare the food or hire a catering service.

· Decide if you will hire waiter service and children’s entertainment.

2 weeks before the event

· Many foods can be made in advance and heated up on the day of the party. Provide it! Or place orders.

· Buy the material to be used at the party: towels, balloons, cups, cutlery, plates, napkins, disposable bottles, trays for sweets and snacks, balloons, string, dolls with the party theme, double-sided tape, candle, match and etc.

· Hand out invitations. If the celebration is only for close friends and family, it is also worth inviting by phone.

· Choose age-appropriate entertainment activities for your child guests.

· Buy or make table decorations.

· If necessary, order furniture and decorative objects from specialized stores.

1 week before the event

· Wash table and washcloths.

· Choose the clothes that the birthday boy will wear.

· Buy foods that do not require preparation or can be prepared and frozen until the event.

· Arrange the souvenirs.

· Organize the decor items.

· Buy the ingredients for everything you prepare at home.

In the week of the event

· Check everything.

· Prepare sweets and appetizers, if you are going to make them at home.

· Build a playlist with songs that will play during the event.

· Buy drinks: water, juice and soda.

One day before the event

· Clean the place where the party will be held.

· Check that there are toilet paper and hand towels in the bathrooms.

· Decorate the entire environment. Arrange the premises: tables, chairs, sideboards.

· Defrost previously prepared food.

· Buy ice.

· Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.

On the day of the event

· Pick up what was ordered: cakes, snacks, flowers, etc.

· Charge the battery of the camera.

· Blow up the balloons.

· Prepare the main table for the party.

· Separate a place for gifts.

Tip: invite the child to help with the preparations. She feels safer knowing what will happen. Surprises often generate anxiety and fear. Suggest some options and listen to what she has to propose. If something is not going to work out the way the child wants, let him know in advance.
