Check out how 10 very popular series ended, but not everyone finished watching

Many people end up leaving a series before reaching the final season, and this happens for many reasons. Sometimes the plot gets too long and it feels like the scriptwriters are creating the script with their last bit of creativity. Other times, comedies are no longer funny, dramas are no longer engagingly tense, or we just don’t have time to watch multiple seasons of the same series anymore.

Supernatural (2005-2020)

Synopsis: two brothers travel the country hunting evil creatures and investigating paranormal phenomena.

How it ended: in the final episode, Sam and Dean Winchester follow the trail of vampires they encountered 14 years ago on their first hunt. In the pack is the woman they couldn’t stop being turned in the past. During the battle with the vampires, only Sam manages to survive; Dean dies and goes to Heaven. There, he meets Bobby Singer, who was practically a second father for the boys, and discovers that his parents are there too. Sam starts a family and names his son after his late brother. As an older man, at the end of his journey, Sam dies and also goes to heaven, where he is reunited with Dean on the same bridge in the pilot episode of the series.

House of Cards (2013-2018)

Synopsis: a political drama that introduces us to the everyday life of ambitious Congressman Frank Underwood. He helps Garrett Walker get elected President of the United States with the promise that he would be named Secretary of State, but after the election, he is told that he will not receive the promised position. With the help of his wife, Claire Underwood, Frank sets out to exact revenge on the newly elected president.

How it ended: Frank Underwood dies under mysterious circumstances. His wife and vice president, Claire, assumes the presidency. However, her husband’s former sponsors, Annette and Bill Shepherd, become her biggest enemies when they charge Claire favors that Frank had promised the couple, in exchange for help in re-election. Annette decides to try to end Claire’s life and believes that Frank’s former assistant, Doug Stamper, is best suited for the mission. In the final episode, Doug meets with Claire in the president’s room and reveals that he is responsible for what happened to Frank, in order to maintain the former president’s legacy. Doug wounds Claire, but she manages to wound him back. Doug dies in Claire’s arms, and the scene ends with her saying, “No more pain.”

Vikings (2013-2020)

Synopsis: the series is a free interpretation of the Nordic people and their attacks against England. The series also tells about the semi-legendary king known as Ragnar Lodbork, his children and wife, the resourceful warrior Lagertha.

How it ended: Bjorn Lodbork is seriously wounded in the battle against the Rus people and dies. Their widows, Gunnhild and Ingrid, must then decide which of them will assume the throne of Kattegat, but King Harald intervenes in the women’s plans, wanting to marry both and assume the throne. Gunnhild chose to follow her late husband Bjorn, while Ingrid decides to marry the new king.

In the Kiev principality, Ivar the Boneless, Hvitserk and the young prince Igor, with the help of Oleg’s wife, manage to secretly escape to Novgorod without being noticed. Soon they return to Kiev with Dir’s army, and young Igor kills Oleg with an arrow. Ivar and Hvitserk return to Kattegat, where, with Harald, they plan an attack on Wessex. In battle, Ivar goes to Valhalla, Harald also dies and Hvitserk, having to say goodbye to his brother, accepts Christianity. In Kattegat, Ingrid, widow of Harald, becomes Jarl (queen).

Around that same time, Ubbe and Torvi, alongside a group of immigrants, managed to survive the exhausting journey on a longship, disembarking in known land (apparently in North America), where they found the natives. They tell the Vikings about a certain madman, who also once sailed those seas. When they are introduced, the madman is none other than Floki, long gone. In the final scene, Ubbe and Floki sit by the beach and speculate about the future.

Skins (2007-2013)

Synopsis: a series about the lives of a group of British teenagers, each with their own problems and traumas.

How it ended: the last season told us about the lives of the adult characters of the 1st and 2nd generation, in London. Effy Stonem works as a secretary in a large company and has an affair with her boss. However, she quickly becomes the target of a fraud investigation and so decides to hand over her lover, who was involved in the illicit scheme, and begins to prepare for the trial.

Cassie, after a long disappearance, finds Sid in New York, and they spend several years travelling. After that, the character returns to London and starts working as a waitress in a cafe. Her father plans a trip to Italy with her younger brother, but she convinces him to stay in London so that she can accompany her father on his journey.

James Cook has been living as a fugitive for three years — he killed John Foster in Season 4. His boss is a man associated with illegal trade. At the end of the episode, he finally gets his redemption and solves all his problems.

true blood (2008–2014)

Synopsis: after scientists invent artificial blood, vampires no longer need to hide and hunt people. But not all humans are ready to live alongside vampires, and not all vampires are willing to give up their old ways.

How it ended: Bill contracted hepatitis, and to be cured, all he had to do was drink some of Sarah Newlin’s blood, but he refuses and asks Sookie to help him die, using her power to do so. However, that way, Sookie would lose her gift. However, she decides to grant Bill’s request, but in the end manages to retain her power. Four years later, Eric and Pan are running a large corporation, as, thanks to them, Yakamono no longer exists. They claim that Sarah Newlin managed to get away from them, but that they found a sample of her blood, from which they synthesized a cure and a new food source for vampires. However, Pam is holding Sarah captive in the basement. In the city of Bon Temps, vampires and humans celebrate Thanksgiving Day, and we see Sookie pregnant with her new love, although her lover’s face is not visible, leaving us only to speculate who it could be.

Silicon Valley (2014–2019)

Synopsis: a group of talented programmers from San Francisco try to start their business in Silicon Valley.

How it ended: Richard’s company made a multimillion-dollar deal with AT&T to create a decentralized Internet on its own platform, however, on the eve of the launch, Richard discovers that Pied Paper can break any method of encryption due to its artificial intelligence being very advanced. Bertram Gilfoyle, however, offers to stop the launch of the platform, claiming it is the only way to protect the data and privacy of the entire world population. Richard agrees and on launch day manages to inject incorrect code into the system preventing the launch at the last minute.

Then the main characters are shown 10 later: Richard has become a professor at Stanford University, Monica works for the National Security Agency, Gilfoyle and Dinesh have started their own company, and Gavin Belson has become a popular writer. In the end, the entire team of developers gathers at the same table as usual, and Richard wants to show the file with information about Pied Paper that he had hidden from the staff, however, he cannot find it.

Muhteşem Yüzyıl (2011–2014) — No Portuguese version

Synopsis: the series covers a significant period of the Ottoman Empire’s existence. The plot is inspired by real events that took place during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.

How it ended: after the death of Sultana Hürrem (Roxelana), Sultan Suleiman I retreated into his own world. The relationship between his sons Selim and Bayezid became chaotic, so the Sultan decides to send them to govern provinces far from Istanbul. Bajazeto, dissatisfied with his father’s decision, gathered a group of supporters to start a rebellion, which ended up condemning himself and his children to death. Towards the end, Suleiman I recalls the day of his accession to the throne. After the Sultan’s passing, his only living son, Selim, becomes the new padishah🇧🇷 At the end of the series, Sümbül Aga, a faithful servant of the Sultana Hürrem, reads her diary and ends up in tears. He enters the harem, where he hears the voices of its former residents, who are no longer alive.

Hannibal (2013-2015)

Synopsis: In an attempt to find clues about a maniac, FBI analyst Will Graham turns to psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who becomes his consultant in the search for this criminal.

How it ended: in the final episode, Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Will face a decisive battle against a dangerous criminal, nicknamed the Red Dragon. Together they manage to defeat the criminal, but both are seriously injured during the fight. Standing on a cliff near Hannibal’s country house, the protagonists embrace and Mads Mikkelsen’s character says that this is what he always wanted for the two of them.

The mentalist (2008-2015)

Synopsis: Patrick Jane is a psychologist who, due to his enormous power of deduction and investigation, helps the California Bureau of Investigation to solve the most serious cases. At the same time, he searches for a cruel criminal who took the lives of his wife and daughter.

How it ended: Patrick asks Theresa Lisbon to marry him. On the eve of the ceremony, Joe Keller, aka Lazarus, who had previously kidnapped Patrick, is still alive and preparing an ambush for the newlyweds at the wedding party. However, while still at the ceremony, he is detained by an FBI unit and the criminal’s plan fails. Patrick and Teresa leave their posts at the agency and the department is taken over by Kimball Cho.

Twin Peaks (1990-2017)

Synopsis: FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper investigates the death of student Laura Palmer, whose body was found in the lake. During the investigation, Cooper realizes that all is not what it seems in Twin Peaks town.

How it ended: the last season of Twin Peaks was released only in 2017, and it reveals, in detail, the nuances of the first seasons. At the end of season 2, a copy of Dale Cooper enters our world through the Black Room, bringing with him the villain BOB.
