Campaign Shows Ryan Gosling Is Hollywood’s Sweetest Actor

This story began when the owner of a small coffee shop called Grinder Coffee Gerrard, in Toronto, Canada, decided to run an extraordinary campaign. Joelle Murray, owner of the establishment, adores the famous Canadian actor Ryan Gosling. And what fan wouldn’t dream of meeting their idol in person?

In early September there is a film festival in Toronto and Ryan has come for the premiere of his new film. Joelle, using Twitter, decided to send messages every day to her favorite actor and invite him to the cafeteria. For this, for 10 days, she launched the hashtag #ryanneedsgrinder (Ryan needs Grinder) and the coffee shop printed a poster with Ryan’s image, which employees and customers of the establishment took pictures with.

The establishment created a myriad of reasons for Ryan to visit: they promised a delicious coffee, talked about the easy location of the establishment and even gave you the opportunity to take a photo with your cardboard image. Local media quickly picked up on this fun campaign, which went viral and spread the word across the city. The event was even supported by the mayor, John Tory.

Days passed and there was no news from Ryan. On the eve of the film’s premiere, the cafeteria staff gave Ryan’s cardboard poster a day off with a massage.

So that the actor would not get lost, they drew a scheme special and easy by pointing the way to the cafeteria. But the real Ryan seemed in no hurry to show up.

On the tenth day of the campaign, the wait was not in vain and finally Gosling appeared in the cafeteria! He took a picture with the owner of the establishment, had a coffee and interacted a little with the customers.

“And this happened… #RyanNeedsGrinder worked. This man appeared. The campaign was great and he’s a super polite guy. We really appreciate Ryan taking the time to visit us during the Toronto International Film Festival.”

In fact, the actor’s mother, Donna Gosling, forced him to go to the coffee shop. She liked the campaign so much that she insisted that Ryan visit the establishment. Additionally, Donna wrote about the situation on her Twitter:

“You can take the boy out of Canada, but you can’t take Canada out of the boy! Thank you so much for your beautiful words, Joelle. What mother wouldn’t want to hear that?! I’m so glad it worked!”
