Belly dancing: know its benefits –

Surely you have heard about belly dancing. Her waist and belly movement, combined with beautiful clothes and lots of shine are the first items that come to mind. but dancing is much more than that.

The few studies on Belly Dance are scarce and doubtful. Due to the difficulty of finding reliable information, several interpretations, theories and hypotheses arise. One of the most accepted says that Belly Dance emerged in ancient Egypt in religious cults where women danced in reverence to goddesses. With undulating movements and hip slams, they revered fertility and celebrated life. That is, it was a ritualistic dance, of a religious nature, without public presentations.

“These women revered the goddesses they believed to be responsible for the life of the earth, generated in the woman’s womb, and for the cycles of nature. Its original name, as it is still called today in the East, is Raqṣ Sharqī , whose meaning in Arabic is: Dance of the East. In French, it was translated to belly dance and later named Belly Dance by the North Americans” shares Deborah Valeriophysical educator and instructor of the Yallah program recently launched on the Queima Diária platform.

According to the book ‘Expression and Body Consciousness through Belly Dance’, by the Palestinian dancer Shahrazad Shahid Sharkey, a pioneer of the sport in our country, the name Dance of the East means ‘where the sun rises, where the woman receives energy and power of the sun’. They say that when the Arabs invaded Egypt, they appropriated belly dancing and spread it to the rest of the world.”

My tip is that be patient with your body throughout the learning process. Don’t try to be a perfect dancer, enjoy the movement, the process and be prepared to be surprised” advises the educator.
