A woman avoids a potential harasser by following safety advice seen on the Internet

We dream of a world where women can walk alone in public without worry, but current reality proves that this ideal is far away. A Reddit user was able to escape a potential stalker thanks to several comments on this topic. At the time, she was finishing shopping at a mall with her husband, but had to use the restroom before leaving. Her husband waited for her in the car.

Upon entering the bathroom, she noticed a man watching her and turned in his direction as she passed him. Suddenly, she remembered a post that he had recently read about a woman being followed. One of the main comments said to never enter a public restroom if a man is following her. She promptly left the bathroom and went to the main shopping area, but the harasser remained nearby.

Then the woman remembered another comment that said: “If you believe you are being followed, calmly turn around and enter a store the suspect would not normally be interested in.” Instinct kicked in when she noticed a dollhouse store and headed towards it. The man followed her again and continued to look at her.

At that point, the fear became real. She ran out of the store with the man keeping pace with her and keeping a short distance. At that point, she picked up the phone, called her husband and said out loud, “I’m being followed by the man behind me.” Her husband rushed to her rescue and the individual following her immediately left. The danger was past.
