A donkey rejected by his mother is now a family pet

When choosing a pet, there are no fixed rules, as it depends on each person’s taste. Some choose to adopt a puppy or cat, maybe even rodents. Others go further and prefer exotic animals such as snakes and lizards. Sometimes it’s not about choices and tastes, but what life presents. That’s what happened to the Topping family when they decided to adopt a newborn donkey.

O incredible.club loves the stories of pets a family finds. This little donkey, Tiny Tim, is special, so we want to share it with you.

The Topping family lives in Ontario, Canada. There, they have a beautiful farm with several animals, including five donkeys. One Saturday morning, upon entering the stable, they were met with a curious scene.

All the animals that slept there were in one corner. While at the far end was a small, furry gray ball with large ears and wide-open eyes looking in all directions.

As they approached, they saw that what they thought was a rabbit was actually an adorable little donkey. Tiny had just been born. The family hadn’t realized that Molly, the only female in the herd, was pregnant.

When they wanted to take the calf to the mother to be nursed, she violently rejected it. After several attempts to get her to accept it, they had to give up and make a decision to prevent the poor little donkey from dying.

Tiny weighed just ten pounds when he was born. It fit in a box! The little donkey was rushed to have a veterinarian examine him. Faced with the mother’s firm refusal to feed him, there was no choice but to do it on his own, first with a syringe and then with a bottle.

The helpless donkey needed a lot of care to survive. The first four months were exhausting, but it was worth it. In order for him not to sleep alone, his human parents installed a small corral in the room. That way they could feed him whenever he was hungry.

When Tiny gained weight and found it difficult to carry him to his room, he began sleeping downstairs, next to the family’s two dogs. All that loving care made him a happy and grateful animal. In fact, he behaves like a pampered pet.

Since he was raised indoors, Tiny behaves like his doggy friends. He is mischievous and playful, sleeps in a dog bed and has learned to relieve himself outside.

If they throw a ball, he, very happy, looks for it and deposits it at the feet of its owners. In an oversight, he licks the dishes before they put them in the dishwasher, loves pillow battles, and sleeps curled up with his stuffed cow.

Tiny Tim is now 17 months old and at an adequate weight. Although he is still very small (he is only 58 centimeters), his personality is charming. So much so that he became a celebrity in his hometown. Seeing him grow up healthy and happy is the family’s reward, who had no hesitation in welcoming him home as if he were just another son and giving him the love he needed.
