7 Surprising and Curious Theories about the Harry Potter Universe

It seems that the magical universe that surrounds the Harry Potter saga will never cease to be surrounded by assumptions and new theories. But sometimes, fans actually end up finding the truth. For example, J. K. Rowling confirmed the version according to which Dumbledore was a kind of prototype of the “Death” of The Tales of Beedle the Bard🇧🇷 However, are the other assumptions made by the most attentive spectators correct? In this post, you’ll find some theses involving the world of the young wizard and his class: what does the scar on Harry’s forehead mean, why Dumbledore didn’t want Snape to become Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, etc. And at the end of the post, a bonus reveals who threw snowballs at Lord Voldemort in the first film of the saga.

board with the awesome.club on this journey among the most interesting theories about Harry Potter, and take the opportunity to share your own conjectures.

1. The scar on Harry’s forehead is not shaped like a lightning bolt

We bet you never questioned whether the scar on the protagonist’s forehead really is shaped like a lightning bolt. Only recently, this seemingly obvious fact turned object of controversy. There are those who believe that the young man’s forehead bears the exact mark of the “Avada Kedavra” spell.

It is precisely this movement that he needs to make with the magic wand to perform the scariest of spells.

2. Hermione’s cat belonged to the Potter family

According to this theory, Crookshanks originally belonged to the Potter family. Check out some clues:

Hermione bought the cat from the “Magical Pet Shop” as a present for her birthday. Crookshanks was already an adult cat, so he had been at the establishment for a long time.

Hermione’s pet recognized Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew in their animal transformations, which could mean he already knew them.

In the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsPotter finds a letter from his mother written to Sirius, in which he states that Harry was very fond of the toy broom, but that he almost killed his cat.

3. Professor Sibyll Trelawney’s Divinations

Dumbledore dies in the sixth film of the saga, but that was even expected by those who noticed a clue in the third film. Remember the Christmas dinner that appears in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban🇧🇷 Sybill Trelawney made a strange prediction: the first of the 13 people to leave the dinner would die. Many thought that she had made a mistake, as there were only 12 people at the table, but we later learned that the mouse Ron carried in his pocket at all times was Peter Pettigrew, which meant that 13 people were at the table. Dumbledore decided to reassure everyone by getting up from the table first. At that moment, his fate was sealed.

If so, then we can predict the death of other characters: in the book Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the first person to stand up is Sirius. Already in the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows🇧🇷 only 13 wizards return to the “The Burrow”, and Lupine was the first to leave to look for the body of Alastor Moody.

Trelawney didn’t get Harry Potter’s birthday wrong either. During the class with the divination teacher, she deduced that the young mage was born in the middle of winter. Harry then corrects the teacher, saying he was born in June, when it is summer in the northern hemisphere. However, when viewers learn that Harry was one of Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes, everything becomes clear. Voldemort was born on December 31st.

4. The real reason why Snape didn’t get the professorship against the Dark Arts

Have you ever wondered why, despite all of Dumbledore’s trust and respect for Snape, the latter couldn’t fulfill his greatest dream, which is to become Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? This question also has its answer. Dumbledore suspected that such a post was cursed since the post was denied to Tom Riddle (Lord Voldemort), and that no new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher would be able to hold the post for more than a year. Snape was an irreplaceable ally, informant and friend, so he couldn’t take any chances.

However, in Harry’s sixth course, Snape occupies the desired position, but this only happens after Dumbledore realizes that he is dying. The headmaster of the school knew that his time had come to an end, considering that Snape, in any case, could not stay on as a professor at Hogwarts until the end of the year.

5. Why was Harry Potter better than other wizards?

Harry was always demonstrating his talent for spells, and the wizard himself sometimes said that he was simply lucky. But his ability could be a consequence of the fact that he was one of Lord Voldemort’s Horcruxes.

Therefore, he would have inherited some of his abilities (something that would be proven from Harry’s ability to speak Parseltongue).

6. Thanks to Dolores Umbridge, the Weasley brothers were able to open their business

In the fifth film of the Harry Potter saga, it is possible to observe four events that may have gone unnoticed by many people:

Fred and George offered Ron the possibility to buy cheap sweets that caused nosebleeds. The magic product cost little because the twins didn’t have an antidote for it and didn’t know how to stop the bleeding. When Harry was carrying out the punishment imposed by Dolores, he returned the same night with a bloody hand. Hermione noticed and healed the wound with Murtle essence. Lino Jordan was also punished by Dolores, and when Harry saw his hand, he recommended taking Murtisco essence. The Weasley twins communicated that they were ready to leave Hogwarts and open their own shop, as they had finally found an antidote against the hemorrhaging candy when Lino Jordan told them about the essence of murtisk.

7. George Weasley and Willy Wonka would be the same person

One of the best known theories states that George Weasley returned in the past and began to live under another identity: that of Willy Wonka. And that would be clear thanks to some facts:

Wonka’s entire office is split in two for no apparent reason, but it all makes sense if we consider this as a reminder of his brother. Willy can’t hear with his left ear, and George lost an ear fighting the Death Eaters. He possibly switched to a prosthesis, but was unable to regain his hearing ability. All the sweets look like they came from a magical world. In the world of Willy Wonka, no one can quite understand who those helpers are who make the chocolate. However, in the Harry Potter universe, those creatures wouldn’t scare anyone, as everyone is used to house-elves.

Bonus: Who threw snowballs at Lord Voldemort in the first Harry Potter film?

In the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the Weasley brothers were punished for having hexed some snowballs that hit Professor Quirrell’s turban. And only at the end of the first story do we learn that, on the back of Professor Quirell’s turban, was the face of Lord Voldemort.

What do you think of such theories? Do they make sense or are they just a tremendous “trip”?
