The Young Queen Victoria (The Young Victoria), 2008

A year before ascending the throne, Victoria, aged just 17, meets the nephew of the King of Belgium, Prince Albert. Despite a persistent conviction that the monarch had sent his chosen one to conquer her simply because he believed that, in the future, this would help him consolidate his political position, the young woman falls in love at first sight. Love turns out to be sincere and mutual. Thus, in 1840, the two get married and begin a happy life. They spent 20 years side by side, until Albert died of an illness. The beautiful film shows the beginning of the relationship between the two and some of the problems that the couple had to face.

Manolete — Blood and Passion, 2008

This love story took place in real life, in the 1940s. Manuel Laureano Rodríguez Sánchez is the most popular and famous bullfighter in Spain, whose presentations bring together thousands of excited spectators. When he meets and falls in love with controversial actress Lupe Sino, his reputation plummets. Rumors begin to circulate that the young woman is taking advantage of Manolete’s talent, but in fact, she only cares about him because she realizes that, sooner or later, this dedication could cause her death. The bullfighter has to make a difficult choice between living a quiet life with his beloved or continuing to follow his vocation.

It Could Happen to You, 1994

Charlie Lang’s wife is a futile person who only thinks and talks about money. But the policeman always lives so hard that sometimes he doesn’t even have enough money to tip the waitress well. Thanks to an incredible stroke of luck, the ticket wins, earning the policeman $4 million. We must admit that the romance between the protagonists of the story was exaggerated in the production of the script, but the promise of sharing the prize is absolutely real.

This film was shot by the passionate protagonists who were inspired by the history of their relationship and decided to create a beautiful feature film about the obstacles that life puts in the way of those who want to be happy. In one of his performances, comedian Kumail Nanjiani falls in love with a young American named Emily V. Gordon. Everything could have worked out, but the man is part of a traditional Pakistani family who want to see him married to a good Muslim woman, admitting no other alternative. The American’s family also poses obstacles, and the young man needs to find ways to deal with her. However, despite all the difficulties, the romance between the two gains strength over time.

My Immortal Beloved (Immortal Beloved), 1994

Beethoven dies and the person responsible for his estate faces an unusual problem: the composer leaves his fortune to an “immortal beloved”. Secretary Schindler is forced to launch an investigation to discover the identity of the heiress. The film can be considered an attempt to bring out the personal conflicts that haunted both Beethoven and his beloved true muse.

The only difference is that the real woman met her husband before suffering from amnesia, so the man he didn’t need to win her love, he needed to remind her that they were married and resort to a note system to tell his wife about the most important events in their life together.

Glow of a Passion, 2009
