6 Things From Queen History That Bohemian Rhapsody Ignored

The film “Bohemian Rhapsody” took a long journey to reach the big screen, as the project took almost 10 years to be able to start production and start casting. The first actor quoted to play Freddie Mercury was Sacha Baron Cohen, who left the project when he realized that the film would not be as realistic as he wanted. In the film, Freddie Mercury meets the members of the band Smile (guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor) in a parking lot, shortly after singer and bassist Tim Staffell leaves the group. Freddie says he’s been following the band for some time, and asks to work with them as a singer whenever necessary.

In real life, however, Freddie Mercury was introduced to the future members of Queen by Tim Staffell himself, with whom he had attended university and with whom he was already friends. Freddie dreamed of being the lead singer, so when Staffell left the group, he immediately took over🇧🇷

Critics may not have loved the movie, but one thing is for sure: the actors were chosen perfectly🇧🇷 Gwilym Lee, who plays Brian May, is very reminiscent of the guitarist. In the movie, Paul Prenter🇧🇷 Freddie’s lover, avoids calls from the singer’s friends, does not forward messages left by the group and strives to isolate the artist from everyone else. When the invitation to the Live Aid benefit comes up, Prenter hides everything from the star, that as soon as he discovers the truth, he leaves his partner.

Here, the goal was probably to make Prenter seen as some kind of villain, since he actually acted like a traitor by selling photos and personal information with Freddie after their breakup. But the rupture occurred after Prenter destroy Freddie’s house during one of her craziest parties.

One of the most intense moments of the film is when Freddie leaves the groupbut that never happened in reality. O Queen never officially broke up. They took a break from touring but continued working together in the studio. Also, Freddie wasn’t even the first to release a solo album.

In 1981, the band’s drummer, Roger Taylor, released his first solo album, titled Fun in Space. After that, Brian May teamed up with other artists and recorded the Star Fleet Project album in 1983. The following year, Taylor’s second album would be released, this one called strange frontier🇧🇷 AND would be it was not until 1985 that Freddie Mercury would release his first solo album, christening of Mr. Bad Guy.

In the film, Freddie reveals to the band the tragic news that he had been diagnosed with the HIV virus three weeks before the Live Aid concert in 1985, during the first rehearsal.
