A disease that affects approximately 50% of the world’s population, seborrheic dermatitis – popularly known as dandruff -, gets worse in winter. That’s because hot baths, dry weather and longer intervals between washes make the scalp more oily, dehydrated and with peeling skin, contributing to the emergence of ‘white dust’ on the wires.
“Most people neglect their scalp care and only care about their hair. However, it is important to be aware that the skin of the scalp is the basis of the hair and that the health of the hair depends on it”, says Rene Rust, a specialist at Head&Shoulders.
Which is?
The proliferation of the fungus Malassezia globosa and the excess of sebum in the threads causes dandruff, which is nothing more than the scaling in plaques of the scalp. Therefore, the region becomes more sensitive bringing some annoyances. “Intense or moderate itching of the leather is characteristic of dandruff. If not taken care of, it can lead to other hair problems”, comments Adriana Souza, hairdresser.
Inadequate food with a high level of fat, incorrectly using dryers and flat irons, in addition to dysfunctions in the sebaceous glands, are factors that also contribute to the appearance. It is worth remembering that seborrhea can affect both women and men in equivalent proportions.
Treatment
Having some daily care is essential for the prevention and treatment of these white dots. Check out some tips:
1 – Ideal cosmetics: “Using inappropriately shampoos, conditioners and moisturizing creams tends to aggravate the problem. Therefore, asking your trusted hairstylist for guidance and always using cosmetics suitable for your hair type is essential”, says Adriana.
2 – Wash your hair regularly: Many people wonder if washing their hair every day is bad, but both people who have oily hair and those with dry hair need to be careful when cleaning, after all, it helps to clean residues and reduce excessive oiliness. . “Especially for people who have scalp problems such as dandruff, it is recommended to wash their hair daily with a light, high-quality, anti-dandruff product. The strands tend to be thinner and less shiny than problem-free hair. So anti-dandruff products can help give confidence and also improve the appearance of the hair,” explains Rust.
3 – Massages: The specialist also recommends massaging the scalp during shampooing, as it “soothes irritated scalps, as well as helping to distribute the active ingredients throughout the scalp and strands”.
4 – Don’t overdo the cosmetic: Excess product can damage the wires. “We recommend washing hair from roots to ends,” says Rust.
5 – Be kinder: When washing, do not rub the scalp roughly, as it is more prone to damage while it is wet. Being delicate in hygiene is also a form of prevention. “Many people rub very hard when washing. The shampoo must be applied carefully, massaging gently”, concludes the hairdresser.
