A endometriosis is an inflammation that causes parts of the endometrium (tissue that lines the inside of the uterus) to slough off during pregnancy menstruation and settle in the ovaries, intestines and bladder. The symptoms: severe cramps and, in some cases, difficulty getting pregnant. Immunological, hormonal and genetic factors are associated with the causes.
Gynecologist Arnaldo Cambiaghi, co-author of the book Fertility and Foodsuggests simple changes to the menu.
1. Eat raw vegetables, fruits and whole grains
They keep the intestine functioning at the right pace (you must go to the bathroom every day) and, with that, prevent toxins from accumulating there and harming the Immunity. The fibers of these foods, especially the soluble ones, still reduce the absorption of fat, which, at high levels in the body, stimulates the production of estrogen – hormone which, also in excess, favors the evolution of endometriosis.

2. Bet on antioxidants
Vitamins A (present in dark green and yellow-orange vegetables), C (citrus fruits, tomatoes, peppers) and E (olive oil, avocados, pumpkin seeds, whole grains) are the most potent against free radicals, responsible for inflammation in the uterus. Vitamin E offers one more benefit: it inhibits prostaglandin, a substance involved in the pain mechanism.
3. Don’t run out of B vitamins
They regulate the menstrual cycle and modulate inflammation. The result is less pain. They are present in lean meats, eggs, milk, cheese and legumes (white beans, lentils, chickpeas). Already refined pasta and bread, alcohol, caffeine and sugar reduce the levels of these vitamins.
