Technology has made available to us a range of objects that make our daily lives easier. Proof of this is the cell phone, which almost everyone uses and yours, probably, should be there by your side or in your hands. But with all this innovation, we see that some of these modernities end up giving what many call a BUG.
If you like to have a good laugh, the awesome.club separated for you some comments from internet users, who told what it’s like to deal with virtual assistants who simply decide to freak out, stop, comment on random things, speak other languages and even have that awful laugh.
I was watching a comedy show that was about presenter Alex Jones. It showed a part where Jones was talking to Alexa and asking if she worked for the CIA. At that, my equipment, which was listening to the entire TV conversation, replied, “Is that Alex Jones?” It was truly distressing. @WumboWake/Reddit
When I started using the iPhone I activated Siri. I went to see anime with my wife and after the second or third episode, I was already bored of seeing the opening and said, “This crap again?” The iPhone beeps and says, “Dragonology, temper your language!” My wife and I looked at each other scared and he spoke again: “Dragonology! I can’t believe I’m hearing that language from you!” My wife said, “Did your iPhone just scold you for swearing?” Result: Siri has been disabled since then. @/Reddit
My girlfriend and I were sitting in our room, she was fiddling with the phone and I was sitting at my desk, both of us silent. Out of nowhere, Google Home starts speaking in Korean and then counts down. We both just looked at each other, not knowing what to do. A month later, I was taking a shower, and when I turned off the shower, I hear Google Home speaking Korean again. After that, we decided not to have a smart home anymore. @oph199/Reddit
My laptop didn’t always go into sleep mode when I closed it. For about a year everything was fine. However, about a month ago, I heard a voice saying, “I can help you better if I enable voice recognition.” It was Cortana. At three in the morning. So far so good, right? I googled and figured out how to turn this function off permanently and so I did. But the voice continued the next day, the next, and continues to this day. I need help, I haven’t slept through the night in weeks. @/Reddit
My fiance and I were just relaxing on the couch, not saying anything and there was no noise in the place either. Then, out of nowhere, our Google Home started laughing… It never repeated such an event, but it was very scary. @collageofechoes/Reddit
I was trying to add rice vinegar to my shopping list and Alexa thought I said “Rod Stewart” and added it to the list. When I mentioned this to my wife, the device chimed in and said, “Adding rice vinegar to the shopping list.” So yes, now I have to say Rod Stewart when I want rice vinegar on my grocery list. @Dan_Rhon/Reddit
I don’t know if Google pranked me, but on Halloween night, I was at home with my phone browsing Reddit. Out of nowhere, my Google Assistant turned on and basically started speaking incomprehensible words. The only thing I understood clearly was the word “humans”. I didn’t say anything to him, nor was I saying anything. Needless to say, I freaked out and turned it off. @Vercyx/Reddit
It’s not scary, but my roommate has an Alexa and she says mean things when she gets frustrated. The device often responds with tones that give the impression of being sad or just an answer beep. On other occasions Alexa seems to be upset and turns off the music we were listening to, we give the command to play the music again, but she does not resume and makes a beep sound, as if she is mad at you. These things are very strange. @CndConnection/Reddit
Three days ago, I was with my parents and Echo suddenly said, “Sounds good, !” Nobody said my name to him. So last night I was sitting next to him in a chair, kind of leaning my arm over him to get something, and all of a sudden the device said, “Thanks. I like your biceps.” I’m sure my parents’ Echo has a crush on me. I’m not sure if I should be scared or flattered. @romelpis1212/Reddit
My mom is blind, so Alexa is very helpful because she uses the device to control the thermostat in the house. One night, she was feeling hot and asked, “Alexa, what is the temperature in the hallway?” My mom got no response, she tried again: “Alexa, what’s the aisle temperature?” That’s when the device replied: “When I don’t answer it’s because I’m playing”. My mom just went back to sleep and tried not to think about it too much. @Damsell/Reddit
