20 party games full of fun to warm the heart

Brought by the Portuguese, but full of Brazilian characteristics, the Festa Junina is a traditional celebration of the month of June. With cheerful decor, full of typical foods, dances and fun costumes, the event is extremely popular in our country. 1. Gang

If there’s one thing that can’t be missed at a June party, it’s the gang. But did you know that she is of French origin? Well, the dance is inspired by the French balls of the 18th century. Of course, when he arrived in Brazil, he had his fun and personality-filled adaptations. The staging of the wedding, for example, in addition to a tribute to Saint Anthony, according to some people, is also a social criticism of the forced marriages that took place in the past.

How it works: the quadrille is a dance performed in pairs, based on the amusing lines of a narrator, such as “look at the snake… It’s a lie!”, “look at the rain… It’s over!”. With the presence of an engaged couple who command the line of dancers, the choreography follows an impeccable step by step performed by greetings, swing, walk through the countryside, tunnel, coronation, wedding and farewell.

2. Fishing

Fishing is one of the most famous June party games and entertains children and adults alike. Recreation is characteristic of this type of party, it cannot be missing from the schedule of games, and even yields prizes to the winner.

How it works: the game consists of catching numbered plastic fish in a large container of water. Generally, the number placed on the fish corresponds to a prize for the participant, but there are some places where the prize is only given to the participant who catches the most fish.

3. Elegant mail

Charming and full of grace, elegant mail notes emerged from a time when there was no internet. In order to increase social relationships, as is the case with messaging apps today, the idea became famous at the June parties, as it was there that a boy had the opportunity to court the beautiful girls of the city.

How it works: the game needs one or more messengers who circulate around the party, carrying baskets of cards that can contain phrases or be blank. Anyone who chooses to send an elegant mail to a suitor or friend, chooses a card and sends it through the messenger, anonymously or not.

4. Bingo

Of Italian origin, this game, which works similar to a lottery game, is also successful at June parties. It is not known for sure when or why bingo became part of the June games, but no one can deny that with it, fun is guaranteed.

How it works: distribute cards with different numerical sequences to the participants. The game organizer must draw the numbers, always communicating the players, who in turn will be looking for the number drawn on their card. The player who completes the given pattern first wins the game. The patterns can be: row, column, diagonal or full card.

5. Chain

Almost all school June celebrations had the jail. This game created basically to make fun of friends, consists of a space where people placed can only leave if they pay a gift.

How it works: One person is selected to be the jailer and another to be some sort of police officer, or sheriff. The jailer is responsible for keeping prisoners in jail, while the policeman has the function of receiving arrest orders. Anyone at the party can request that the police arrest someone. The prisoner, in turn, will have to stay in jail until he pays a gift that can be a funny challenge or money, or if a sympathetic friend agrees to bail him out.

6. Can topple

Another game that is successful among all ages! Made many times with recyclable materials, the objective is to knock down all the cans in a single move. Little is known about her origins in the June festivals, but it is believed that she gained space precisely because of her simplicity.

How it works: on a table, build a pyramid with empty cans, if the cans are very light, you can put some sand to make them gain weight. At a distance of at least 1.5 meters from the table, the player will receive 3 marbles that will allow him 3 chances to hit the pyramid and knock down all the cans at once. As in all good June parties, the winner receives a prize.

7. Clown’s mouth

June celebrations are marked by their aim games, which by the way, are very successful among children and adults. The “clown mouth” game is one of them.

How it works: on a cardboard with an image of a clown with its mouth open, where a circular cutout is made, the player will have to shoot 3 balls through the clown’s mouth. In some places, the participant receives smaller prizes if they hit 1 or 2 balls, in others the objective is to hit all 3 in consecutive moves.

8. Musical chairs

Present in many Brazilian parties, musical chairs are also a fun option for June parties. Its origin is unknown, but some people claim that it was raised in Salvador, Bahia. Recreation, which is done in groups, makes for a good laugh and is great for getting along with the crowd.

How it works: select a number of players, and separate a number of chairs less than the number of participants, usually a single chair less. On a stereo, put on some fun music to play. Players will need to dance while circling the arranged chairs. Without warning, pause the music. When the sound stops, players must sit in an empty chair, and consequently, one will be left out. 9. Ring game

Like the game “tomb cans”, the rings game conquers the participants for its simplicity. With the aim of fitting rings into bottles, the game trains players’ visual and motor perception, and of course, it’s super fun.

How it works: in a given space, distribute pins, cones or bottles with an average distance of one hand between them. Each pin must be numbered and each number will be a different prize. The player will receive 5 rings to play with. At a distance of at least 1.5 meters, the participant must throw the rings with the aim of hitting them on the pin. The more hits, the more prizes.

10. Corn run

Corn is present in every good June festival, and it could not be left out at the time of the scavenger hunts. This fun race is breathtaking, it is successful in any age group and still yields a popcorn afterwards.

How it works: Choose at least two doubles to play with. Divide the pairs at each end of a space. On one side, separate two containers with corn kernels, and two spoons. On the other side, leave two disposable cups. The participant on the side of the container starts the race. He will need to fill the spoon with the grains and take it to the other side, to pour it into the glass. In doing so he switches positions with his partner. The team that fills the glass the fastest wins.

11. Bag race

If you want to liven up the party with a competition that entertains those who play and those who watch, the bag game is ideal. Like musical chairs, this game is also present in several parties, but it makes a difference in June celebrations.

How it works: All you’ll need is a start line, a finish line, some sturdy bags, and a bunch of fun-loving people. Position players on the starting line, all with both legs inside the bags. 12. Break pot

Inspired by the Piñata game, originally from Mexico, the “break pot” game is more common in the northeast region of Brazil. Very typical of the time of São João, the competition becomes even more special as it presents the participant and those who are outside with lots of sweets.

How it works: The game can be played in two ways. Originally, a clay vase is hung high. The participant of the turn, receives a club, is blindfolded and rotated a few times to get dizzy. When it stops spinning, the player must be able to find and break the vase filled with candy. In another version, the vase is placed on a table, and the player, with a certain distance, receives a stone to throw and break the container also filled with sweets. In both games, when the vase breaks, people around it run to compete who can get the most candy.

13. Apple fishing

A different fishing, but extremely fun, to do in June festivals, is apple fishing. The game for children and adults consists of fishing with the mouth, apples floating in the water.

How it works: Distribute a few apples in two or more large bowls of water. It is important to leave spaces between the fruits to increase the difficulty of the game. Place each player positioned with their hands behind them, facing a bowl. The objective is to grab the apple and take it out of the water. The participant who completes the objective the fastest wins.

14. Tail on donkey

Festa Junina without the “tail in the donkey” game is not Festa Junina. Fantastic for adults and children, the game makes a lot of laughs. No one knows for sure its origin, what is known is that the idea worked and is still present in the celebrations today.

How it works: holding the donkey’s tail, blindfolded and after being rotated a few times to lose the sense of direction, the participant has to find the drawing of the animal stuck on the wall and put the tail in the right place. The player who manages to place the item in the closest place to the correct one, or who can complete the objective faster, wins.

15. Egg in the spoon race

There’s a perfect game of June parties. With a little tension, but extremely funny, this race is not only against time, but against balance as well.

How it works: Determine a finish line, at a distant point. Players must position themselves on the starting line with the handle of a spoon in their mouths, balancing an egg and with their hands behind them. When starting, they must cross the space to the finish line. Whoever reaches the finish line first wins. The game is originally made with raw eggs, hence the tension in dropping it, but some less messy versions have been developed over time, with hard-boiled eggs, or ping-pong balls.

16. Three-legged race

With a difficulty similar to the sack race, the difference is that this game unites the participants in a peculiar way. Simple and very fun, it will liven up any June party.
