20+ Mistakes in Movie Posters That Got More Attention Than the Movies

The production of a movie or series costs millions of dollars. And visual effects specialists, of course, work hard creating these effects so that movies look as realistic as possible. However, after the film is ready and the publicity work begins, the team responsible for producing the posters is not always able to deliver a job at the height of the films themselves, leaving viewers stunned by the poorly done work.

We, from awesome.club, we evaluated dozens of movie and series posters and selected some regrettable mistakes by designers. They are “steps on the ball” that, in some cases, drew more attention than the films themselves.

1. Sex and the City 2

Kim Cattrall’s elbow has gotten bigger than her neck and her forearm looks weirdly long.

2. Death at the Funeral

Apparently, the designers incorporated the comedy spirit of the film and made a “joke” in the poster, failing to add a detail in the chest region of one of the actors.

3. The Well-Armed

One of the designers decided to modify the appearance of actress Melissa McCarthy, who was never shy about showing her body, a little outside of Hollywood beauty standards. But, let’s face it, it looks like this designer overdid it a bit.

4. Husband by Chance

Apparently the person responsible for the poster was inattentive during the work. In the case of the first version of the poster, he fumbled with Uma Thurman’s right arm.

On the poster above, a similar problem, only with Colin Firth’s arm. It looks disproportionately short and the actor’s wrist has gotten too big.

5. G-force

6. Spider-Man 2

The designer of the poster probably didn’t study human anatomy. It’s hard to imagine how Kirsten Dunst would manage to hug Spider-Man unless she had rubber arms.

7. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 — The Menace of Electro

It seems that the designer of the previous poster was invited to participate in the creation of the poster for another movie about the superhero. And he seems to have something of a “rubber arm” fixation, having elongated actress Emma Stone’s right arm and ignored the true proportions of the human body.

8. Everybody’s Alright

The hand holding the camera does not appear to belong to Robert De Niro, but rather to someone behind the scenes; otherwise, it would be impossible to imagine how the star could take a picture from the angle shown on the poster. Also, why isn’t Kate Beckinsale looking at the camera if they’re taking a selfie?

9. Highlander — The Final Battle

The designer of the poster was definitely not a perfectionist, as he decided to place the sword on top of Christopher Lambert’s hand, as if he was holding the hilt using some magical power.

10. Dragonheart 2 — A New Beginning

Look closely at the poster and count the number of fingers on the hands that hold the sword. It looks like the designer accidentally erased a finger in Photoshop.

11. Danger in Bangkok

12. Serpents on Board

If you look closely at the snake’s curves, you can see that a part of it is missing.

13. 16 Blocks

The poster for the Richard Donner-directed crime thriller is flawless, with the exception of one: it depicts Bruce Willis without the mustache his character wears in the feature. It is also possible to see a bullet exiting the pistol even without the shooter pressing the trigger.

14. Street Kings

Judging by the poster, Keanu Reeves is also capable of shooting with just the power of his mind. After all, he doesn’t even need to pull the trigger to fire the shot.

15. Godzilla II: King of the Monsters

The poster became a joke on the Internet. Viewers were baffled by Godzilla. How can he walk on water?

16. Cop in Trouble

For some reason, the designer decided to place the film’s protagonists on the poster so that Ice Cube was looking directly at Kevin Hart’s forehead. Although the actors’ height difference in real life is only 10 cm, looking at this poster, it seems that it is much more significant.

17. The Arrival

At first, it looks like a completely normal poster for a movie about aliens. The detail is that the Pérola do Oriente TV tower is not in Hong Kong, the city shown on the poster, but in Shanghai.

This version of the poster caused such a stir in Hong Kong that the publicity piece had to be redone immediately. In this “revised” edition of the poster, the designers decided to place the alien craft in the center of Shanghai.

18. I Am the Fury

19. Chef

A visible case of lack of designer skill. Scarlett Johansson’s arms appear to have a different skin tone than her head. The image of Sofia Vergara, in turn, seems to have been taken from a moment when she posed for the traditional red carpet photos and then inserted into the poster. That’s not to mention that the actress’ head looks way too big compared to the rest of her body.

20. Whitney Brown

Did the designer responsible for the poster realize that the huge horse in the back seat of the Mini Cooper simply wouldn’t fit there?

21. The Wanted

At first glance, it may seem that everything is ok here in the play. But take a closer look at Angelina Jolie’s left arm: her shoulder comes right out of her chin, and her forearm is incredibly long.

22. Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi

Only true Star Wars fans will spot the error. Did not understand? We explain: Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader are fighting with lightsabers that don’t belong to them — the designer accidentally reversed the protagonists’ weapons.

23. The Nanny

For some strange reason, the designer of the poster decided that the actress should have both right hands.

24. Pretty Little Liars

Graphic messes don’t just happen with movie posters, but also with promotional pieces for series. For example, here the left leg of the actress mysteriously disappeared.

Have you ever noticed an error in movie posters, series or in some advertising image on TV? If so, how about sharing it with us and other followers?
